Truck is Staying

Took the ranger to work to have it appraised for what they would offer for trade in. they offered $9,660. I decided to just keep it and dump money into it. I had the frame support thing in the front straighten. i welded 1/4 plate across the bottom to strengthen it up from heating up that dented/ smashed area.

Were you able to get it re-aligned?

Thats cool that you've decided to keep it. What about another dd?

01RangerEdge 05-07-2011 10:42 AM

I can't believe you were offered 9660 for that pile

No kidding, I would have let it stay there for that.

Yeah I would have taken that in a heart beat. It's got all these problems. They will probably start selling it at $14k. $9600 is a good deal.

I thought that they offered him a good penny for the truck.

That would have been tempting for me lol.

wyldechild 05-07-2011 12:39 PM

Yup, 9600 is a good deal. Shoulda taken it. What were you expecting to get?

Lets put it this way...I picked up my 05 4x4 Ranger a year ago for about 12900, and it had 30k miles and was in perfect shape.

ShadowRanger08 05-07-2011 01:43 PM

man, i got offered $6,500 for my 08

Masteratarms93 05-07-2011 02:30 PM

^^^ 2WD might have something to do with that lol

SteelDirigible 05-07-2011 02:52 PM

and thats in canadian... so... its like 6700 US haha

ES894x4 05-07-2011 03:00 PM

I decided to keep it because school is a lot at the moment and another loan even a small one is too much.

Yes I did end up getting it aligned

SteelDirigible 05-07-2011 04:28 PM

you can get a nice car for that, maybe a little more, and make up the savings in gas and not repairing it. just my opinion...

I figured I would keep it because I haven't even had it a year. Yeah its gotten a lot of work in it. But I'd rather put money into a truck I really like and not some car.

Thread jack/
Damn lol

I heard from a Canadian while I was in Mexico that when the loonie is stronger than the dollar your prices go up. Is that true?
/End threadjack

Dave, if I was you I would trade in for a fuel efficient car with no aftermarket support. Therefore you would be saving tons of money on gas and not spending it on a car to modify. Then when you have enough money saved up you can get a project Ranger.
I wish everyday that I would have gotten a Camry or some other reliable 4cyl sedan that gets good MPGs and isn't modifiable to much extent.

Did you ever get new rims or keep the black ones? How many miles are on your truck?

I'm recordering wheels tomorrow. I have 104,929 miles on the truck

Not a bad appraisal for 100k+. Definitely look good with those wheels though.
