Autozone sells felt pads for 99 cents that slip on the posts. I don't know how they work, but they do a good job of keeping down corrosion. That and some sealer, and you should be good.

Hmm I didnt have to wire mine either you should have bought an early 04! Well I am glad you got it all worked out!

Go to autozone and get some battery terminal cleaner and some batter terminal protector. They come in spray cans. Spray the cleaner on, wait about a minute and scrape it all off with a wire brush. Then lightly wash it off, blow dry the terminals dry and spray the protector on, should last quite some time. Mine has lasted over a year and still no corrosion.

clean terminals and posts very well
you need to get down to fresh lead contact
coat in dielectric grease and tighten fully
this special grease helps transmit current and will seal and protect the terminals
don't use regular grease - that will only hurt over time
