Didn't think it would be so soon........
.....that I'd be hanging up my Ranger keys.
It's that time that my "toy" is no longer practical for the family. With the summer heat and road trips now, the g/f's Civic coupe is not so practical for out little guy, Ethan.....and not too mention it's a PITA trying to get a baby seat into a 94 Civic Si....LOL
She's getting a new 4 door 2010 Civic in the next few weeks and I'll be trading my 01 Ranger with my Dad. He's eyed my truck from the start and I know I'll still get to "visit" and "spend time" with my truck when we go over to their place. I know he'll take care of it just as I have and he's assured me that I can "borrow" it every now and then. Who knew one could get so emotional over a dumb truck.....LOL
My new wheels is an 06 Fusion SEL, 2.3L w/ manual trans. I KNOW I KNOW........a family vehicle, but hey, it's NOT a mini van AND it's still a Ford!!
It's loaded to the ****, pretty peppy for a 2.3L, In all honesty, it's faster and more ballsy then my 3L......O.k , I said it!!! Another point is, a straight up trade of an 01 Ranger Edge with 250K km's (155K Miles) for an 06 Fusion SEL with 100K km's (62K Miles) is pretty good.
1st thing l have to do, is get a set of performance tires to put on the stock rims (it's currently on winter rims and winter tires) followed quickly by tinting the windows to a nice 14% as my Ranger was. I've seen a few Fusions with rear deck spoilers (both the raised and BMW lip style)........anything looks better then the regular flat deck.
Today I took all my personal belongings out and removed my aftermarket stereo, amp, and subs. Cleaned up the interior, I'll give it a wash and wax tomorrow evening.
I won't be venturing too far though, I still like to slap my 2 cents in every now and then as educate the newbs that come along.
Bottom line is, I know my truck is in good hands, as oppose to selling it off to a stranger.

hope you guys make a decent amount of money cause two fairly new cars at once sounds like a hell of a lot of debt ... your choice car seems somewhat sensible, but for her see if you can convince her to get an 01-05 (7th gen) ... they are fairly cheap, and only get 3mpg less on gas
on the other end of the spectrum, do they have sport tracs in canada? another thing to consider.

Her 94 has been great and she's looking forward to getting another newer one, but with 4 doors.
I'm trading my Ranger with my Dad for his Fusion. We both need a vehicle that we can carry our son in his car seat in, and also not to always be stuck with only having 1 family vehicle.
My plan is to keep the Fusion for a year or two, then trade it for a full size truck or SUV. I know I'll miss sitting high above traffic.
And yes we have Sportracs here, they just don't do it for me.

pics of said fusion. for some reason i like the first gen looks over the second gen's. i almost bought a 08 fusion they were pretty close in price and payments. i am glad i made this choice though.
when the truck is paid off, i'd like to see if for a family vehicle (thinking big picture) finding a deep amithyst (sp) with tan leather. preferably with awd. i think they only made that colour for a year or two.
