U Joint question?

I read the how to on the U-joints but when you put the new one in you have to pack it with grease right? It didnt say to but Im guessing you have to.

SoundPer4mance Apr 8, 2006 10:45 AM

most new ones are already greased and good to go

RicksTJR Apr 8, 2006 10:47 AM

Aw ok I was thinking that but I didnt want to sound stupid if I was wrong haha I think Im gona give it a shot if autozone has the part. Thanks!

One more thing what size bearing cap would myn be I have a 02 2wd edge 3.0

Redneckstone Apr 8, 2006 11:42 AM

um most i have seen just have enough on the bearings to assemble it, you want to use the Zerc fitting supplied with it and put in more grease after install, with a grease gun then regrease those every oil change...

what you mean the cap on the u-joint? go to a auto store like autozone and they will give you the correct one. they might ask if you have a alum or steel drive shaft and being your a 3.0L you have the steel most likely...

I went to autozone and they asked me what size bearing cap I have and I told them I had no clue and they said I need to find out.

I bought the 1.06 instead of the 1.25 inch my measurements were closer to 1.06 than 1.25.

Redneckstone Apr 8, 2006 12:50 PM

our you could have bought both and returned the wrong one but if that is the correct one then your fine

RicksTJR Apr 8, 2006 12:52 PM
