Towing Accident Kills Man At Park

The Belmont County Sheriff's Department said a Flushing man died after an accident at Powerline Park.

The Sheriff's department said it happened just before 6 p.m. Friday.

Joey Fulton, 22, died on scene.

Deputies said Fulton was trying to pull a truck that was stuck in the mud using a tow strap.

They said the hook from the tow strap broke off of the truck that was stuck, entered Fulton's vehicle and struck him in the head.

The accident is still under investigation.

You should not use a tow strap you should use a recovery strap.

You either put the loop on the tow "hook" or if its like the front of our rangers, you have to put the recovery strap threw the tow hook, then loop it back threw itself.

Hope that helps. Its pretty simple

I'll only use a minimum of a 2" 20,000lb recovery strap, however, I'd prefer to use a 3" 30,000 pound recovery strap

Sad story. BUT...when there's a release of info, please post it. I have a sneaking suspicion that a 'tow strap' was used instead of a 'recovery strap'. 10k max vs 30k max. Thinking one of those straps that are nylon rope with plain jane hooks w/o safety keeper was used. Stupidity...but sad, yes.

if you have a tow strap could you loop it so it wasn't as dangerous?

i pulled a car out of a ditch with my bronk with a tow strap (kind with hooks). i still have it. just never used it since.

ALWAYS ALWAYS place a towel or a jacket of a shirt, or SOMETHING on the line while it has a lil bit of tension. If it comes loose, the towel will take ALOT of the whip action out of the line.

I have a ding in my tail gate from the top half of a stump that broke off. had it not been for the beach towel that stump would have been sitting in the cab next to me. instead it hit the lower part of my tailgate

a buddy has a whole in the back of his jeep from an incident like this. He was lucky i guess. He went out and bought a bunch of new straps when he bought his winch and they are all the ones with the loops from what ive seen
