truck is slowing down?

when i first got my hand son my ranger it flew like a sports car i just tap the pedal and there she goes, the same goes for the ones I test drove at the dealership my truck is a 2009 ranger sport 4x4 with 4.0L SOHC, ever since the crash it seems to have slown down quite a bit.

I have to slam the gas down and hold it there to get her to go anywhere, i know the tranny was fried and they had to replace the gears after the accident but do you guys think that would cause a amajor difference mainly in acceleration.

what else do you guys think may be causeing this problem. the only other thing in this truck that isnt stock is the k&N drop in filter know about the filter when i refilled it with oil i think there was a little too much caus ewhen i tool it out the next day the airbox was wet inside.

whats a "hand son" ?
also, your 2009 "had sports car type acceleration"
then was in an accident?
now you have to "slam onto the gas" to get the truck to accelerate?

If your truck was in an accident, why isn't it running proper, since it had to have full coverage insurance? after it was fixed, it should be running like new.

my bad I type to fats for my own good i meant "when i first got my hands on my ranger"

as for the sports car part i' comparing my ranger to my jeep the ranger felt just like my buddies mitsubishi lancer when in the fact thta i didn't have to use much gas to get up to 60 or 80 km. as for the running like new i kow it should be but it isn't so thats why i'm aksing what you guys think it is.

what got fubar when you got into the accident, rearended or do the rear ending? oiled filters should be lightly oiled defintetly not that wet so taking the maf out and shooting it with some maf cleaner wont ever hurt

i nialed the fornt end into a concrete barrier hard enough to nock the tranny fluid out fo her so they had to swap that and i hit the back end hard enough to bend the under bed support beam. I know i'm dumb but what is the MAF?

I currently just passed 40000 Km. the air filter is clean and the air box is dry. not to sure about the fuel filter. and know i'm really concerned cause i'm getting better acceleration on my jeep. it was just in the shop for a new dampener and wheel alignment. thank god it took the shake right out of the thing.

cant remember the interval on the fuel filter but you might try replacing it. pretty easy and cheap to do.

op has a k&n million mile filter and said he just cleaned it why would it be dirty and need replacing.

MAF= mass air flow its the sensor near your air box that tells the motor how much air is going to it. clog that with filter oil and throw your motor off

fuel filters should be replaced every year, if your the kind of person that changes the oil every 3k with out fail, though obviously most people never do

3k is way too soon to change the oil. oil is 5-7k kms. that dealer is pushing it between oil changes. find another dealer. i agree with the MAF though. that is probably clogged up. i don't think it's your fuel filter, i'm at 45k and i still have good exceleration. i also don't have a k&n filter that needs oil.

your in ontario too, i remember this topic coming up when you had the accident. your insurance should have covered the cost to get a new replacement vehicle or refund the total cost of the vehicle if that one was written off in the first year. how much damage was done again?

the converter may be stopping up...if the loss in power gets any worse i would check this out....also try and note if the floorboard is heating up more than it was, I know in the US manufacturers have to warranty the converter up to 80k miles.
