I showed what a Ranger can do all day today ;)

Pretty severe weather conditions.. snowed 2 feet last night.. and I work at a Hotel and Resort with Conference Services.. several large ballrooms, smaller meeting rooms.. about 20 in total. We have a group doing a huge band presentation and they invited an audio/visual company in to do all the lighting and staging and what not. The onyl rpoblem is.. there truck was so big adn heavy, they had to park over a mile away in the snow because it was so slick any incline woudl cause the truck to jsut sit and spin the tires. We arent talkign about some econoline U-Haul, this is a 52 footer Semi style truck.

Well, they had -no- way to get this gear up there.. and it was everything, thousands of feet of cable, trusswork, staging, anything audio/visual they needed was in there.. well over 6 tons of equipment.

Weather conditions were pretty bad.. there were 2 minivans stuck on the last grade up the lodge driveway.. it has a coupel turns on a steep incline, so if you dont give the vehicle some gas and have ***** of steel, you are probably not going to make it up the hill. We had to implement a new parking area forguests and shuttle them up with one of our big ford vans (15 passenger).. so, jsut to give you an idea how slick it was out there.

I got word of it soon as I got in at work, roughly 2 PM.. and it was raining a crappy sleety type snow.. got nice and slushy when it landed, along with the 3 or 4 inches of hard compact ice/snow all the way from the lodge to the 52 footer truck.

Well, they got a hodl of me because they know I'm one of the few willing to actually help out in situations liek that... and for the next 8 hours (50 miles total.. roughly a mile there and back, so 25 trips) I hauled every single item from the truck up to the lodge, and not once did I ever slip, get stuck, or wimp out an d have to bakc up and start over...

The jackass snow plow guy got his truck stuck TWICE on the dang hill right in front of me, and I had to pass him while he flipped his blinkers on to back up and start over again.. along with one time he was trying to tow some little 2 door sportscar up teh grade.. and I had a HUGE *** load for the ranger, a 900 pounds transformer box, along with about 500 feet of cabling for it strapped to the middle of the bed.. and there was absolutely no way I was going to stop and wait for him to move.. so I flipped my blinkers on, honked my horn to let him knwo I was there, and started passing up on his left side... soon as I got alongside the little sportscar, the *** faced snow plower decided to gun his own truck and yanked the littel car forward two or three feet and sent it about 2 inches from my pickup because of the tires movign the front of the car around.. sorta got me pissed.. but no damage done, so its all good.

Now, the ****ty part...

Theres no way they can drive the truck up the lodge.. so guess who has to take thi **** back down the hill.. yeah, at least Im getting payed like triple pay for this, along with mileage.. and they scraped a good 2 inch square chunk of my rhino lining off too from some big wheeled box they tried dragging along ym truck.. doh!

Anyway.. yipee! One of the guys there kept giving my truck compliments, lol.. he even said his S-10 wouldnt have been able to do it.

Lovely day to own a Ford eh?

EDIT: By the way.. heres a picture of about halfway through the snowing... my brothers girlfriends car pretty well stuck in our driveway (The S-10 I've got there is my brothers truck.. we had just finished digging him out about an hour earlier.

The funny part about the northwest here.. They only promised us a couple inches of snow, and to watch for freezing rain...

Now as I look outside, my neighbors buried F250 stands out about as big as a mound of sand in a sand box... and we had to pay someone to come out with their Kaboda and trench our driveway out. My truck got wrestle over the snow plow line and give a godo plow to clear it out.. but theres no way a beamer or little Eagle will do much out there :-)

now you can tell your kids or grandkids whenever that time may come and say "back in my day.. blah blah blah 50miles thru the snow and ice and rain.... blah blah blah just to go to work" haha my grandpa tried to tell me a story like that once.. then i reminded him he lived in the south when he was in schoool
