- that is a fact, go ask your father
you are not going to do a major repair that is the responsibilty of the manufacturer
you have owned 5 cars, I have owned more than twice that amount and they were BRAND SPANKING NEW
you use the warranty as protection against defects or parts that fail prematurely
if you do not like your local dealer take it down the road to the next nearest one - the warranty must be honored

AND BILL TO KEEP TO THE TOPIC OF THIS POST -
I guess the major mods will begin soon - time for a suspension lift??

I had my Ranger taken into the dealer when I found the stress cracks/enlongation in the torsion bars. Even if I was or knew someone who was a master mechanic -- I'd take that thing to Ford. They made it, their stuff broke, they can fix it.

I also took it in many times for odd noises, squeaks, screws loose, anything.

Sure, many of the things I could do on my own, but here is another thing.

When I took it in all the time, I had them fill out an evaluation sheet, or something like that. That way, if something major ever happened like Neil said [like a tranny, blown motor], THEY will have a track record of hos nice it was in, the condition, etc. I even had them change the oil on occasion or two, just for accountability.

I always got everything in writing and never had any problems.

Now, that I have the Splash and it's coming up on 94,000 miles -- I'll be replacing every broken part with something better, badder, faster and more relaible.

-------------

Back on topic for Bill,

You have more miles than my 1990 GT Mustang! Figure that! Good to go for you, though...real mods, like you said.

I rolled over 65,000 miles yesterday...never had a warranty on the truck (got it with 48,000 miles on it)...thankfully I have never needed a warranty on it. Even the original battery is still doing its job.

I drive 110 miles a day round trip. A trip to Florida, Philadelphia and New York didnt help, it was worth it though.
