if your truck is all "jaced" (jacked) up, a mirror is the last of your worries

Ohh well, if you had used them maybe you wouldn't be in this situation.

Edited to make more sense.

I figure it's either plain old not paying attention and lane changing or wiggling around in his lane....maybe cell phone playing around? texting? bullshi11ting with a friend in the passenger seat? Either messing around, not paying attention, or he fell asleep.

Let it be known....I left 265/75 rubber marks on a white Ford Aspire's rear quarter after a 15hr day at work driving 30mph....dozed off. I pulled over and he raced around like crazed bafoon looking for me. I waited a 45mins less than a 1/8th mile from the incident on the side of the same flippin' road. I gave up on waiting, drove home. I've been there before and it was stupid of me. I was stupid. My one and only auto incident and I learned from it. Hopefully you will too.

you better believe i learned from this .... and it had nothing to do with texting ... my phone is off when i drive for it is illegal for anyone under 18 to use a cellular device while driving in the state of virginia .... i was doing a u turn and he pulled out of a parrallel parkingspot and i sideswiped him ... it was only my fault because it was an illegal u turn

these new cellphone laws are starting to **** me off...

here (where i am origionally from, not where i am living now, i'm visiting family) it is illegal for anyone under the graduated licensing system to have a cellphone turned on, while in a vehicle, period. you cannot even use it if you are pulled over on the side of the road. in addition to that, ANYONE that is using a phone or text messaging, while on the road, either driving or stopped at a stop light, can get a ticket, i believe it's 150 or such, unless you use a hands free device, if you do not have a hands free device you may (if you have a full class 5 license, which means you are not under the GDL system) pull off of the road, a shoulder does count, if your vehicle is completely off of the road, AND you have your 4 way flashers on

with the exceptions of emergency services, and i believe "any person who requires a mobile telephone for their job" not included in this, however, are CB radios, or any other portable communication devices, the ones that ARE included are devices that have a phone function, a text message, or a mobile mail function, unless the hands free device is activated (which makes me wonder, if i'm using a bluetooth, can i text? that is how it is worded...)

/end rant

sucks about your truck though... lets see some more pictures

i think that the phone laws are awsome, michigan finally passed a couple laws and im happy about them. ive seen more accidents and near accidents caused by cell phones than anything else. i see it everyday on the highway, some jackass on his phone or texting swerving all over the highway or cutting people off and changing lanes without looking. this past summer some dumb girl with a small child in the back seat wrapped her car around a tree in my front yard becuase she was messing around on her cell phone. to the OP, sorry about your truck man, **** happens sometimes, as long as you learn from it and dont do it again. people make mistakes.

i see the reason for them, but there are so many holes in the law here... i mean, define hands free device... and the way it is worded, it says something along the lines of "no person can use text messaging, email or telephone service, unless the device has an activated hands free device" but there is no definition of what a hands free device is... what if i'm using a bluetooth and i'm texting at the same time? (which my phone can do) or what if i put my phone on speakerphone, which is a hands free feature, as marketed by apple, and i continue to hold my phone in the air, this has no benificial effect over me holding it to my ear, but the law doesn't say it...

i just think that it's dumb they make these laws because they can... we don't need new laws, what we need is for the courts system to stop dismissing obvious cases, and(which is the source of the next problem, IMO) and the police to enforce the laws that we currently have like "dangerous driving" i believe this one is $215 fine, "drive without consideration" this one is $175 or "drive with undue care and attention" which is a whopping $450 fine...

granted that cellphones are a distraction and do cause accidents, they should not be banned as a whole, as there are a lot of drivers who can drive safely while talking on a cellphone, albiet not as safe as if they weren't... but why penalize the person who gets 1 phone call a month, while driving, and force them to buy a bluetooth headset, which they then have to dig through their glove box or purse to find, while the phone is ringing... how about my issue? i don't live in british columbia, but i am from here, and i do visit, i'm not going to buy a bluetooth, as i don't need one on a regular basis, and it wouldn't be worth my money (i'm not THAT popular) and yet when i come home to visit my family and friends, if i have to call someone for directions, which i did several times tonight alone, as my sister moved into a new house, i could get this $200+ ticket! it's just dumb to me... enforce the laws we currently have, and cover all of the issues that make people want to have these new laws... how about "failure to remain in your lane" which i believe is just above a $110 fine... anything that you do, while talking on a cellphone, which could cause danger to other people, will fall under one of the previously listed tickets, or speeding, or driving too slow, or following too closely (which are all of course, other tickets with other dollar values attached)

ya dig?

the biggest issue with these new laws are that imo, they are punnishing the people who do not deserve to be punnished, and are not punnishing the bad drivers... as chances are, they are going to continue talking on their phone, and are going to say they WEREN'T on their phone

they might be, but they are also needed. too many people use them and don't pay attention while driving. it's a distraction and it takes your attention away from driving. i either use the speaker phone option or i use the headphones that come with my phone. since the law came into effect here in Ont. i've cut down on it less. i don't want the ticket or the hassel form my insurance co. my aunt was involved in a head on colision because of some dumb younger new driver who was a female. on the phone, drifted over the line. my aunt is fine but her truck wasn't.

there's tons of vids out there promoting the anti-use of cells while driving. mostly from GB.

That's not bad, I was expecting worse. At least all you did was bust your mirror and swap some paint, it should be back on the road in no time.

the head unit i put in my truck(blaupunkt hamburg mp57) has bluetooth support out of the box and comes with a mic that blocks sound pretty well i bought it for $70 at fry's 2 years ago with a life time replacement warranty from fry's (walk in broken walk out new) all cars should really have this sort of feature its so convenient to get in n the phone will auto connect if you have paired the two devices for the first time. the music stops for all calls so you never miss one or have to turn off the music and the new hamburg mp57 has stereo bluetooth. i wish i had that, my G1 cant charge n play music at the same time.
