Those are all true if the body lift is incorrectly installed.
To say that the warranty on all of those things is void due to the body lift is false. If his brakes fail and they determined the brake lines were over-extended due to the installation of the body lift, that is another story. Same with the steering or anything. At least here, technically they have to prove/show that your modifications caused the problem/failure.

I never said it would void a warranty. I said it does effect other things. examples:

If your a/c hose rubs through cause the tensioner pulley was rubbing on it after the body lift, you're not gonna get a warranty repair on it.

If your radiator gets a hole from sitting 3" lower (and exposed) and it overheats your motor, warranty won't cover it. If the steering extension you put in comes loose and you loose control and wreck- no warranty.

if your check engine light comes on cause there is lost pressure in the gas tank, it's probably due to cutting and splicing the filler tube.

Just to be clear, I wasn't actually disagreeing with you at all.
I said "To say that the warranty on all of those things is void due to the body lift is false," I never said that you said that it would void the warranty. lol

I know a lot of people from ford an from what they say if they can tell any thing is after market on the drive train is automatic void of warranty... here at ours even if you change your own oil with out buying it from them..void on the life time engine warranty really the only way you can keep the warranty is to leave it stock but it could just be the dealer here there quite strict. Me my self i don't really care i do all my own repairs any how. An for the k&n in my opinion there great filters oh an for the oil you only spray the side from where the air is coming not on the top side near the mas airflow. Even if your did a ranger dose not pull air threw hard enough to pull the oil off the filter to get it on the mas air flow any how.

Your buddies might say that but the law says they can't void a warranty unless it is proven that the modification caused the failure.

As far as the K&N issue... don't certain Mustangs come factory with a similar filter? (Bullitts, GT/CS, Shelbvs) Or is that just non oiled?

my dirtbike can suck enough air to pull the excess oil off a k&n... any vehicle's maf will be at "risk" to an over oiled k&n

unlike what some people say k&n is a great filter when properly maintained, the viper along with tons of other factory vehicles use them

key word over oiled but it even says that plainly on the box..there is full instructions if ya screw up basicaly its your fault not the filter an for the oil..there is like an inch or so the oil would have to be lifted up off the filter to even make it to the intake tube..but the oil is to sticky an thick to be be lifted up to the mas airflow or off the filter for that matter...your mas air flow is not at risk unless you spray the oil directly on it to prove me wrong..an even then it will be fine

WATCH VIDEOS!! an here is every ones proof that K&N is a good filter an oil will not get on the sensor or hurt it

Magnuson?Moss Warranty Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia a judge will take the law's word over a mechanic's... they have to prove without a doubt, that your modification caused the damage, if there is any doubt, they cover it... innocent until proven guilty...

... you did a suspension lift and your rear pinion wore out, your warranty is not necissairly void, even though the pinion angle changed... they have to prove that the damage to the diff was caused by the difference in angle... this isn't necissairly hard... them just saying you lifted it, the angle was different is circumstantial evidence, which is NOT proof, it's supporting evidence... pictures of wear on the top/outerside of the casing, and bottom inner side of where the pinion goes, which is caused by the sharper angle, and the pinion trying to compensate IS proof

haha I call BS on the dealers like I called BS on mine when I took it in for an oil change LESS than a few hundred miles with my BL and they told me my BL caused my tranny fluid to look like oil. I called BS and did it right to their face. As for the K&N, we've run them in all my vehicles and have never had a problem nor at the dealers. I can only talk from my own experiences. I actually think some people are jealous when they see a nice ride come in! HAHA

your magnusen act does not apply in canada

we have our own laws

although your vehicle is warranted by ford.of canada
the dealers are instructed to look for any non-ford modifications done on any vehicle
the ford canada head office must be informed of any warranty voiding work done on any customers vehicle

this was confirmed by my dealers HEAD MECHANIC

I don't know why people are hating so much on K&N filters. My truck has benefited from a nice MPG boost when i switched over.

This is all exactly the reason when I buy a vehicle I deny any warranties or other sales incentives. Any "incentive" they try to give me to keep me coming back and spending my hard earned cash at their place of business is pure evil in my mind. I buy the car, not a piece of paper with strict regulations and "rules" to keep me coming back for an extended period of time. For what reason does the billion dollar Ford Corporation need my pennies any way?

Warranty Schmarranty!

true, but common law comes into effect here, and you can plead your case with the magnusen-moss act to the judge, and if you know how to put on figurative knee pads (perfect time to...) worst case senario is you split the cost with the dealer...

common law (in canada) is any thing that has become common practice based on foreign law, or local practice based on previous experiences in relation to your situation

not saying you are going to win, every judge has a stick up their *** for one priticular aspect (excessive force of a peace officer, abnormal circumstances, race, colour, creed, ect...) talk to a lawyer about this, i'm sure you can get a short 5r second answer in this circumstance

i think you are right with this here... i'm not here to create internet drama... i've got better things to do, my point is, most people don't know the laws that protect them (granted the mm act isn't canadian) like i said above, i would be very surprised if you took it to small claims court and lost... you basicly explain to the judge that what you did (tires, bl, painted headlights... what ever) created no more difference to the driveline than putting a sticker on the rear window... and that there is no reason that this unrelated modification should cause your warranty to be void... (tires is probably a bad example, as most cases tires could be atributed to premature wear on any driveline component) i think you understand what i'm saying right?

at the end of the day, if metro ford voided his warranty for a body lift, go to another dealer, and talk to them... if they won't do it because metro put a note on your vehicle's information in the computer, send an e-mail to ford canada explaining your situation and how the body lift has absoultely no effect on your driveline... like ok, if your fan chews up your rad... you might have an issue, because you relocate the rad in the lift...

So let me get this right. The dealer voids your warranty for suspension..because you jacked your truck up... they inform you of this..you get angry and put out an internet posting... the tech can't work on your truck and utilize his tools because of what you've done to your truck...and to top it all off..you find the problem..and behold - it was your fault due to your suspension modifications..so you post an online thread bashing the Dealership..where you somehow manage to find another tech who agrees with you that Lifting a truck is less of a modification ..than a damn K&N filter.
You think you see it all in law enforcement and military but damn! Just cant understand mindsets and this world.

haha, ahhh; i'm just crappin ya. Glad you found the issue.
