Well....The motor is IN!!!
With the much appreciated help of my wife, the Beast has finally got the motor BOLTED in!
No pictures yet...I just wanted to tell you and make you wait and see..... (I'll go take pictures in a few minutes!) The motor and tranny were dropped in together. After a ballet of jacks and motor lifts, I was able to squeeze them into that tiny engine compartment! What amazes me is the entire thing just bolted in! |
No pics! Lamo
J/K good job man. |

5 Attachment(s)
Okay I finally got tired enough to put down the tools and take some pictures.
Attachment 206933 Attachment 206934 As you can see, the stock Ranger transmission crossmember bolted right up to the Explorer tranny, and the Explorer driveshaft was a direct fit at both ends. Attachment 206935 The driveshaft bolted right into place... Attachment 206936 Attachment 206937 |

you should do some frame work now. Box it for better body roll ( read: less) and notch the back over the rear for a little more travel.
|
A performance mod with "substantial" power gains!!!!!
I think this falls into the "increase engine displacement" category that I have been preaching!!! A HUGE difference between this, & intakes, underdrive pulleys, e-fans, and K&N air filters!!! |
yank that driveshaft off and clean the rust real quick, water hose and wire brush, then sandpaper, then flat black rustoleum
|
Congrats on getting that far. I agree, paint that driveshaft.

Ha ha...that driveshaft sure is ugly. I'll pull it off right now and clean it up. Thanks guys for all of the compliments. More pictures will come later today.

Nicely done man, looks good!!!!
|
so very sweet
|
That just looks too perfect, pretty sure that should be a factory option because
5.0 ranger just rolls off the tongue. |
nice work man great progress

How much clearance is there for the fan, shrouds, and radiator? What radiator are you using? I'm surprised it all bolted in, too...
But congrats. It looks good, and fits snugly. It looks like the stock hood will just barely make it without a rise! Did you add a body lift? |
