Icon4 Talk me out of it- roof plow truck!

In my quest to find a new truck, I stumble across this little gem.

For those too lazy to click:

WE HAVE HERE A EXTREMLY CLEAN RANGER WITH ONLY 15,000 ACTUAL MILES. THIS TRUCK WAS USED TO PLOW THE ROOF OF A LARGE BUILDING SO IT IS LIKE NEW INSIDE AND OUT. THIS IS A VERY RARE FIND SO DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS GREAT BUY! GIVE US A CALL
Nice price? Put down the pipe? What can I expect to fall apart soon?

So are you wanting a truck with a plow? If not, you could find a better deal. Maybe not quite that low mileage though.

3.0 V6? No thanks. I would never, ever buy a Ranger with a 3.0, no matter how nice it was.

If it was used for plowing snow... and has a 3.0... I would be concerned with drivetrain issues, regardless of the low miles. That still would put a lot of stress on that truck.

Bad news, it has a 3.0

Also it appears like the caps lock is stuck at that dealership!
THIS TRUCK HAS THE 3.0 V6 AND IT HAS A SNOW WAY PLOW.

LET ME KNOW IF THAT WORKS FOR YOU
I doubt they'd move $3,500 off the asking price, so on to something else.

I'd love to find a 4.0 regular cab 4x4 with a manual transmission- back to searching

Good luck with that. You'll be looking forever. I looked and I finally settled on my truck. It's an automatic. In about a year of searching locally, the internet, and even offering a finders fee to anyone that could locate one, I found ONE reg cab, 4x4, 4.0, manual trans truck and it got sold out from under me. I'd just go with an auto and be done with it. I really wanted a manual transmission but I'm happy with my auto now. No slave cylinder issues. lol

Bad news. NONE of those trucks you linked to have the 4.0l SOHC. 2001 was the only year you could get it in a regular cab until they finally made it an option again in '07 or '08 with 4x4 only.

My search was not as narrow as it should have been. However, your dates are off:

This truck should not exist
. Feel free to decode the vin.

You're right 2006 was the first year they offered it again. Either way 2002-2005 you could only get the 3.0l in the regular cab.

15k miles on running in cold weather, short distances, frequent cold starts, lots of carbon buildup? lol
Not to mention the weight sitting on the torsion bars all that time.

it could have very well been in 4low most of its life, its still a better deal then what i bought. when i bought my ranger it was 10 years old, had about 60,000 miles on it and i paid almost 12K for it. i really didnt think the bank would finance that much for the age (and bluee book value) but they did. even though it was way more than it should have been , it was exactly what i wanted, and the closest thing i could get in new was double the price. i figured id drive it into the ground. im still glad ive got it and btw it is a 4.0 std shift. sure its the o.h.v. but id rather have that 4.0 than the newer o.h.c. and i could never live with a reg cab, ive even thought of buying a reg cab longbed and doing some cut and weld, make my very own supercab longbed!

Uhh....you put a plow blade on the ground when you're done driving. ****, if anything it had LESS weight on the Tbars because of the blade.

How about you find out how much the plow costs.
then take and subtract that from the asking price there is the cost of the truck.

If you want the plow buy the truck take everything off for the plow. then turn around and sell it to someone that doesnt know it was used to plow its whole life... Everybody wins.

When i drove a plow on the Rideau canal we could lift the front end of a 3/4 ton diesel with the blade all the way down, this was until it was properly calibrated to not do this. However I would love to see this little ranger plowing a roof and to see how they got it up and back down.

I looked into it 8 years ago a proper used set up ran about 3-5 k not including installation. However this was just before a predicted record winter season was about to start.
