went tire shopping today, and finally found some tires i liked. for an okay price.

265/70/16 Firestone Destination A/T's

took em to a little spot that i know of and they perform GREAT compared the the wranglers! i didnt know what i was missing! and theyre a pretty good all around tire, and just about perfect for the type of wheeling i do. so i can't complain.

only a crappy cell phone pic for now, will take better pics and post em in the snapshots section tomorrow

Attachment 179016

better shot of what they look like for those that dont know

then next step will be some cragar soft 8's. sweeeeet.

Looks good.

rstangboi Jan 12, 2009 08:04 PM

hm....

shoulda lifted first, then tires....

just like i shoulda done...

Fx4BlackRanger Jan 12, 2009 08:05 PM

from that pic I cant tell the differance but i bet they do preform better

04blackedge Jan 12, 2009 08:05 PM

The set my on my friends jeep doesn't even compare to my BFGs. Good luck with them.

Tys 4x4 FTW Jan 12, 2009 08:08 PM

i think im going to hold out on the lift. Gonna wait till the warranty goes out first. I might be taking it in soon for the tranny, and i dont want any issues when i do that.

crazymikey Jan 12, 2009 08:09 PM

Just be warned, the Cragars are like freakin boat anchors. They're lead weights. The more I drive with them on my truck the more I want to go back to aluminum.

Tys 4x4 FTW Jan 12, 2009 08:11 PM

on a side note, does anybody know the backspacing for the stock rims that i have?

when i get new rims, i will want them to stick out a bit more..

was it a pretty noticeable difference?

crazymikey Jan 12, 2009 08:12 PM

Cragars are 4" backspace. The front sticks out a little more. Get 16x8 or 16x10 if they make those.

04blackedge Jan 12, 2009 08:15 PM

16x8 is the proper size, the tires are only like 10.2" wide.

Tys 4x4 FTW Jan 12, 2009 09:05 PM

yeah i was gonna go with a 16x8.

crazymikey Jan 12, 2009 09:07 PM

then you'll be good to go. with mine and my 31s they must weigh atleast 50lbs each.

Tys 4x4 FTW Jan 12, 2009 09:59 PM

damn. can you notice it slowing you down?

crazymikey Jan 12, 2009 10:24 PM

taken a minor hit on fuel milage and it takes more effort to get up hills. starts scrubbing speed as if the brakes are on when I let off the gas. it's just more effort to get everything rolling from a stop and to keep it going so the truck is working harder all the time to keep momentum.

Melt Jan 12, 2009 10:54 PM

no pics of you burning off the rts? im dissapointed

Tys 4x4 FTW Jan 12, 2009 10:57 PM

lol i put them up for sale, so had to keep em in somewhat good shape

Melt Jan 12, 2009 11:01 PM

good luck selling those .... well maybe some ranger owner thats never been off road will want em

Tys 4x4 FTW Jan 12, 2009 11:06 PM

yeah, and they dont only have to go on a ranger. but we'll see what happens. if not i guess i'll keep around for "just incase".

Yessick Jan 12, 2009 11:06 PM

id burn em down oooooooooo!!!!!!

Melt Jan 12, 2009 11:15 PM

arent firestone destintations what some of our spare tires are? I know mines a firestone but i didnt see what kind last time i was under the truck

Tys 4x4 FTW Jan 12, 2009 11:22 PM

they could be. i've never really looked. i think most of the tires are destinations? then there's the A/T's, M/T's etc

i almost got a set of the mud terrains, but it was gonna run me almost 150 bucks more. These tires were already a squeeze lol.
maybe if i had a job up in reno it would help. gah.
