I think I have seen a total of 2 2008 Rangers here in my area of Wisconsin. Both Black FX4 off roads. When I got mine in Aug. of this year it was hard to find a Ranger and a black one at that. So thats how I ended up with my yellow one it sat at the dealer for a year and I knew they wanted to move on getting rid of it. If I would have went a few days earlier I could have got a black one. Looked at the Chevy and GMC Canyon and Colorados they wanted me to pay $575 to $625 a month on one that cost the same as my Ranger did I walked out of those dealers. Best part the salesman I worked with is one of the Village Board members for the Village I work for and he has to see my truck all the time.... LOL

I got a bug for a 08 4.0 Ext. cab XLT in blue. searched Fla, Ga, SC and finally located one in NC. Had to go 500 miles to buy the one I wanted. Most dealers only had fleet type or at best a 3.0 Xlt (not at all a bad combo, but I wanted a blue 4.0).
Ranger sales are dropping because there is no inventory to draw from. Ford has abandoned this market that it once owned (like so many others.) So let's feel bad for them. I am on my third Ranger, so obviously I like them, and feel sad that they're being killed off.

I figure they'll bring back the ranger when they have enough money to redesign it, and sell it at a time when they can make the most sales with it. With their recent losses, it just seems to make more sense in the time being to divert more money towards the redesigned explorer platform.

im considering a dakota or durango with the 4.7 a freind down the road has one (dakota crew cab 2wd) and its got some decent power. and the fuel usage is about the same as my 4.0 ive never been a dodge fan, but if it will get the job done and gm or ford cant offer up anything better, maybe its time to try it out. dont know if i can get a stick trans with that motor though. im leaning more towards a durango, ive got a 6x9 trailer to haul stuff and "car" plates vs "truck" plates make it worth considering not having a truck, its the same at the dmv weather youve got a ranger or 3/4 ton as far as licence fees, gets really worse when you cross over to commercial tags or a 1 ton.

No Ranger shortages here, I was looking at them yesterday and between the two Ford dealers here there must be 25 08's all ext cab's in various trim levels. I'm thinking of trading my 06 Corolla on a Black 08 Ext Cab 2wd with a 3.0 and a five speed, I think it was a sport. I'm going to go down today and have a better look at it and maybe take one down the road and try it out.
It would be a shame if Ford screwed with the Ranger but then again look at the Escort and the other retarded moves Ford has made in the past ten years. They just need to upgrade the truck so it's more in line with what people want.

I went to the Cerritos auto square by my house, cause I had to take my dad's azera to the hyundai dealership.
While I was waiting for it to be done, I went to the Ford dealership and went to check out the FX4s.. None.. Like about 3 rangers on their lot. All used. It was pathetic. They had no 4x4s either. I even had them check. The head sales guy was like, yea I dont have them on my lot right now.. maybe in a couple weeks.
Blah. Very discouraging.

called my regular dealer, he found a white single cab LONG BED 3.0 automatic with rubber floor (XL). $15,500. Thinking about it. Ordering a 4.0 in the same configuration would be another $1000 or more as long as rebates were still in effect at the time of delivery. Considering rebates end dec 31 and the plant shuts down for a couple of weeks, it may be a stretch to get it delivered in time.
