Went Winter Wheeling today

Hey guys. So yesterday at work me and a buddy of mine were talking about how it would be cool to go and do some winter wheeling. so we went on the local forum and sent out the MSG. before 9 last night we had a small group of guys who were in for a SHORT trip. There was 3 vehicles in all. Todd's Samurai and two jeeps done right to the nines. So we headed out at 9 in the morning. here is a few pics and the rest of the story.
Attachment 174107 We were maybe, maybe 400 meters in to the trail when me and Todd first got stuck. So we got winched out.... no problem. Then we could not get any traction because even with the tires aired down as far as they could go with out bead locks, the Samurai still did not have enough weight to push down on the tires and make a bigger foot print.so for another 400 meters we were toed up the Mountain. Attachment 174108 Attachment 174109 OK so now we are at the top of the hill OK. Lets go and have some fun. We were moving for a good long while, and then we hit another bump. Now that we were at the top of the mountain we had to start dealing with drifts. Now Todd was starting to get a little pissed that his Samurai was not keeping up with the Jeeps. So he starts to push it a bit harder. Which is fine......until the hub bolts all snapped on the right side and we lost four wheel drive..... in the middle of a snow bank. Attachment 174110 by now it is a round 430 and we realised that we could no go any further so we turned around. we finally get back to the trail head, and realize we did not even get 7 km tagged on the trails. The whole day was us getting towed up the mountain. I am not trying to ***** or nothing i really did have a good time. I just thought that some of you guys would like a laugh. O and before i forget The winch on the samurai broke as well. lol. Anyway that's what happens when you drive a Suzuki i guess. Hopefully next time we head out on the trails i will have a lift in my truck. Cheers Chris |
The guy from work with a Sami broke the bolts in his left hub. Was leaking diff gear oil all down the side of his wheels. You could spin the entire hub assembly. LOL!
Looks like fun regardless. |
Ya thats what happend to my buddy today

Nice pics Chris. You guys still have a ton of snow there!
|
O ya man we have close to 4 feet in areas. Its insane.

Sounds like ummm, fun....?

Looks cold.... but fun.

Tire chains probably would have made your trip a little better.
|
Looks like fun, being the one getting constantly recovered isn't though.

And don't dog on Sami's those things will out wheel most of the trucks on this site, they can be built on a much lower budget and they have a bigger after market  |
