Wet Cold Air?

Yes you need to clean your MAF with MAF cleaner (auto parts store)
Clean it using the instructions with the K&N 'recharge' or cleaning kit. Lightly coat the filter with the given oil, let it air dry for awhile before oiling.
You absolutely do NOT want to run a "Dry" K&N filter in an extremely dusty place like Albuquerque, filtering capabilities will drop fast.
