Lift/Tire/Wheel Pics + Problem
Hi guys and gals,
Finally finished what I set out to do on my 06 Sport 2wd. Up front are Doetsch 3" Spindles in the rear a short AAL + 6400 Shackle on max hole. Wheels are 15x8 Cragar Soft 8s with 32x11.5 BFG T/A KOs for tires. I like the way it turned out but I did lose acceleration and braking is worse, that came as no surprise.
The problem is that as soon as I left Discount Tire today after getting the Soft 8s / BFGs installed I had groaning and vibration in the pedal/floorboard from 15-25mph that smoothed out after that range and is essentially gone. My first thought is the wheel bearings were a little worn when I did the Spindles at 45K miles. I repacked them but perhaps the extra weight of the steelies and 32 along with them stick out a little more maybe is revealing crapped out bearings?
I checked underneath and there aren't any rubbing issues with anything I could find. It's not the ABS sensor grinding the rotor, checked that. I snugged the wheel bearings up, and that seemed like it took a little vibration out of the floorboard at ~20mph. So WB is my guess right now but maybe this is something that someone has experienced on here and they have a suggestion.

I should've stated the AAL+Shackle have been on for a while with no problems while running the stock wheels/tires. Theoretically the tires should just move everything up together and the angle shouldn't change. I did think about out that though, good suggestion.
Will, the spindles were straight forward but the lower ball joint is a **** and I suggest using a big hammer, 4lb +, and a puller to help....but mostly a big damn hammer. I moved quick through most of the install but really lost about 4hrs on the first LBJ because I had to stop, assess, and go buy a 4lb hammer. I didn't lose any turning radius, and no problems with the brakes. PM before you do the install and I'll give you more detail.

Not by choice...the only Hidden Hitch #5014 (old style) I could find on ebay was 160.00 used and with no hardware. It tucks right under the valance so it's not as low as some others. It's not bothering me enough to chop it up yet, I've got the welder just no motivation. Also where it hangs, the crossbar protects the bottom of the transmission cooler and lines. I really just care about the vibration right now.

Not sure if this may be it but I heard sometimes after doing body lifts your bolts will loosen and you have to tighten them up. Maybe check that for your vibration while driving?
Also on a sidenote I want to know how you know about the old greg video on youtube ahaha. . . . I didnt think it was that popular the only reason I know about it is my owner at my old jobs name was Greg so we called him old Greg so we didnt confuse him with my name. We looked up old greg on youtube one day and found that video ahahaha.

I'm not body lifted, just the spindles so shouldn't be any bolts issues. Plus this vibration wasn't there until immediately after I had the new wheels/ tires installed. I found out about Old Greg from this undergrad who works in our lab, she was like "you ever drink Baileys out of a shoe?" and then she showed me the video haha. My favorite is when he says "do you like me?" "I don't rightly know sir" "make an assessment!".

Update: Had the wheels/tires dynamic balanced this morning, no improvement. I'm thinking it may have to do with the alignment. Mine is way off, scheduled to be done tomorrow. As it stands now my tires ride on the inside edges pretty bad. I'm thinking maybe it's the tread lugs on the shoulders making the vibration and as I speed up and the tire eggs out a little it unloads that inside edge and the vibration goes away. My old tires didn't do it but they were bald on the corner so that makes sense. I suppose I'll find out tomorrow. If that doesn't do it then I'll move to the wheel bearings.
