Picked up some winter wheels and studded tyres!

Not sure about the mess on the alloys though, it seems to be on the surface of the wheel, it's like glued on tyre fitting paste or something.

That would be corrosion/oxidation. Wheels are probably clear coated. Coating gets scratched, then salt and road grime start attacking the aluminum. Best bet is to strip the clear coat off with paint remover, then polish the wheels with Mother's and a Power Ball. Nice find, BTW... those tires look to be almost new! :)

Yeah, there is certainly some corrosion, but most of the mess on the wheels is on the surface, a hardened glue-like substance, this picture shows it a little clearer.

Looks just like the stuff on my son's wheels when he bought his truck. We stripped them, wet sanded and steel wooled them, then polished them with Mothers wheel polish and a Mothers PowerBall. The look like new. Lot of work, though.

Well, i guess i've got the time, though i've been made wary of steel wool, Vs say, nylon for example, as the fragments can get embedded and rust.

I suppose that could be possible; haven't experienced that myself. To be honest, the sandpaper worked much better anyway.

I did an oil change last week(decided to use synthetic with my new ('99) truck), replaced the air filter last night, topped off the brake fluid.
My check gage light pops on when I accelerate, so I need to look into that (fuel pump?), and I have to replace my wheel bearing hub assemblies at some point this week.

Installed a Lincoln town car/crown vic shifter stalk. It's nicer than the black one we have and it puts a better angle on it when shifting. Pretty straight forward install.

I also did the turn signal stalk. That unfortunately wasn't the case the first time around. I read the how to on the forum and it said to clip the wires. I did so and it was mess because I also clipped something else because I couldn't get the resistor disc out so I made a modification. That modification would then make the stalk not work properly, wipers didn't work right...etc I was super pissed. Ended up ordering a new shifter stock turn signal stalk knowing I would take it apart, and found another crown vic shifter stalk on eBay. This time around I didn't clip the wires rather snaked them through and it turned out 100% much better. First time I pissed 2-3 hours messing with it. Second time around it only took me 25 minutes since I knew how to take everything apart and put it together. I liked the old turn signal stalk because it angled downward but this is nice now because my knee doesn't hit it. It's not angled up like the newer rangers which I don't like at all.

TLDL: Took apart stock turn signal stalk. Removed resistor disc. Put it inside chrome crown vic stalk. Took crown vic stalk and used all internal parts of stalk turn signal stock. Screwed it all back together and now I have a cool turn signal stalk.

Overall two cool little mods. Adds a little nicer look to the inside. Sorry for the shitty pics, it was getting dark and I needed to get to work. Will get better pictures later.

Parking Brake handle

Went to Pick-A-Part and got a parking brake handle for my 97 ranger. I managed to pull one off by pulling and twisting. Put it on when I got home and used Gorilla Glue to hold it fast. Cost .57 cents with sales tax.

I can NEVER get out of the Pull-A-Part that cheap! I just see stuff I want and go for it. Kudos for having the willpower to not pull a console or something! LOL :)

Looks good, man! I have to assume you did the convertible top yourself. Is the top removable or just open air like in the picture? Either way; very cool!

Since I just got mine yesterday, I spent today "inspecting" and checking out the '11 model. I spray painted the calipers and inspected the brakes. I also dropped the spare and flipped it over so I'm able to check the air in it easier.

Crappy pic, but I know people love pics...

You can't use photobucket anymore, unless you want to pay them, i suggest something like imgur instead.

Gotcha...I guess I see the error message now. Thank you, I'll have to get an Imgur account.

I don't think that is a 1953 vintage hood emblem. More like early 60's. Still old though. :)

I bought it yesterday.
Today I did an oil change, trans fluid service and filter, plugs, wires, air filter, wiper blades.
I ran to a pick and pull and replaced the passenger window switch and drivers door lock switch.
I ordered some used oem tail lights off ebay to replace the trash that's on it.

Time to start scouring CL for for a set of stock wheels.

I also removed the air deflector off the hood.

tomorrow I'm driving it to oregon to put plates on it.

I also need to research how to fix my seat, the seat back feels twisted.

Nice.

What's wrong with the wheels?
