added roof lights or clearance lights as i remember dad calling them back in the day. had this light kit for a while now, just took that long to get myself to drill holes in the roof. used silicone of course but have yet to have a rain to see for sure if i still have a sealed roof. love the look, real "70's" style, esp with no headliner inside. woud almost mount a spare on the front but not going that far. lol.
Finally put the truck back together. It's been a while now.. I think since January since my fuel pump no start problem, and then I kept doing stuff to it while I had more and more things apart...lol
Test drive it today and then I should be good to go.
finnaly was nice enough out to paint cab roof of truck silver, turned out good but the tailgate turned out even better. when i first made the bed a two-tone i did the tailgate first and it ended up being a lighter shade of blue than the rest of it. I had removed the blue oval emblem and filled the emblem locater holes in with jb weld, had thought about putting the " F O R D" letters across the back like they did in the 70's and on early rangers but just hadnt got around to it yet. well today i got the bright idea to do it with paint. i cleaned and lightly sanded the tailgate, taped off the silver areas and the tailgate handle, then laid down wood letters on the tailgate, then sprayed with the darker color blue, letting the wood letters mask the lighter blue paint i had used before. i then took the letters off and the tape then clearcoated over it all. think it turned out pretty good. hopefully the roof of the truck being silver will help reflect the suns heat in the summer, much like the reason above ground gas tanks are painted silver. since this is a non-a/c truck, every little bit may help.
I used FORScan last night to delete the keys in PATS. I had two keys when I bought the truck. One started the truck while the other one was cut never turned the truck on. It would just make the security light hyper flash. Read the how to and figured lets try it. Had to wait 12 minutes for the built in self security of the PCM but after that it was a 2 minute process of deleting the old known keys and then adding two back in. Now both keys start and operate the truck with zero issues. My spare key comes in on Friday so I will be able to program that using the standard insert 1st key, on/off, insert 2nd key on/off, then do the spare and it should be fine.
FORScan is awesome. Really wish I would have used this years ago. Also makes trouble shooting very easy. Found a couple issues that a normal scanner did not pick up..

Your truck takes on the look of the 70's with the hood ornament and the emblem.
I have thought about doing a black paint on the hood roof and tailgate, maybe even the Cab Top above the window lower edge, but haven't so far, still thinking !

Has Nigel, two sites, similar info so I guess I need to support the two with a post.
Is there a How-To on the site and what is FORScan, never heard of it !
New windshield, new taillight assys, Royal purple Trans fluid, Front brakes and repacked bearings. New timing belt, just ordered ne Headlight lenses. All this work just to make sure it will be dependable and safe for a lot of years to come.
Nigel, Is you edge ranger a 2wd or 4wd. If 2wd did you do a lift on that bad boy. Looks good. What is the name of the company that made that lift and what is it called. Been wanting to lift mine but Scotty Kilmer on youtube says its dumb to lift a truck because it's bad for your suspension.
I have had the torque convertor replaced about 3 years ago but only put 8 thousand miles on the truck since then now the od light started blinking and gave a P0741 TCC solenoid off so I had it replaced last week with gaskets but I am still getting the same code and people already talking about replacing the torque convertor . Have anyone else ever had this or similar problems and if so ,what did you do? I have a 2003 4.0 Ranger.
How long since you either changed or added oil to the Trans ?
I just wanted to check the internals while I have it out. Burnt the clutch a few weeks back and am finally getting a chance to work on it. Internals were in great shape too, still looked new.
