what do you guys think

well this is an interesting predicament i came up with, i put my ranger up on kijiji for sale for $23000 canadian and i got reply the following morning, this is the first reply i got

hello and how was your day? i was just going through the listing and i saw my favourite car i have been looking for, for some couple of weeks.. so i will like to know the present condition of the car and i will also like to view more pics of the car both the interior and the exterior of the car... so i will gladly make an offer of $23000.00 USD.. so pls kindly get back to me if my offer is accepted and we will later discuss the suitable mode of paying you...
Thanks so much and God bless.
Mrs. Purcell

now seeing how they posted it as USD i sent a reply asking were they were located, and recieved a second email,

hello, i am really glad you respond to my inquiry ontime... and i am also glad my offer is accepted.. but the only problem am having for now is that, i am a sailor and i am currently on a journey and the only means i can make your payment is to wire the money into your paypal account... so i will need your paypal email adress to make your payment without no further delay.. so i will also arrange for the pick up of the car immediately payment has been confirmed in your account..... i will be very glad if you can send me your paypal info for me to make your payment without no further delay... i would have loved to transfer the money via western union but you know am not chanced to do that due to the nature of my job... so i will kindly implore you to send the details ontime so that i will make the transfer ontime cos i also have my bank account linked with my paypal account, so i think the transfer will be more easier for me....
Thanks for understanding and i pray that God will bless you abundantly.
Mrs. Purcell.

now from my experience no one takes the time to be this polite on the internet so what do you guys think is this a joke at my expense or a scam or coudl this person really be serious. I'm not inclined to accept this offer due to the fact that i need a certified cheque or cash for the truck, but is this a long shot in the dark.

Something about how polite and wordy the replies are is concerning to me. I would be very hesitant if I were you.

all i can do at this point is just reply that i'm only accepting face to face payment methods at the bank due to a alot of counterfiet bills roaming around depending on this persons reply if any, the other concern i ahd was first with the times the emails were recieved the first being 7 am the second being 12:56 am and the second being why would this person that lives in the states and is apparently sailing right now be on kijiji on a canadian add that was posted for the GTA area. i want it to be real but i just can't think that at this point so my second concern is what are they after then.

skimmed debit card/credit card which in turn was then registered on paypal, or it's internet fraud, i would contact paypal's fraud department, and report it, ask them you are interested in making the transaction if it is legit, and if it is not, interested in helping them out, they will probably refer you to talk to the OPP's fraud detachment

I was in the Navy, and sailors never say "i'm going on a journey" theres the case for it being a scam right there. tell "mrs Purcell" to suck your left nut

What everyone else said: It's a scam. Don't have any more contact with them.

I've never used kijiji, but when I list stuff on craigslist, I check the hide email box. And I type in my phone number, like one two three. Or mix it up, like 123 four five six 7890. Or type in your email like johnsmith at gmail dot com. You most definitely won't get spam and scammers that way.
