what do you guys think?

ok i was driving home yesterday from work when i noticed a merc capri for sale, it has a running fuel injected 302 and body is somewhat ok but im more interested in the engine, the guy wants 1000 or 800 cash and i drive it home, what do you think deal or no deal?

KARPE 11-13-2006 01:42 PM

DEAL

although a carbed would be an easier swap if you can get all the pigtails you need that's a good price that will make thw whole dent a bit cheaper

Whoa Oh, Blackbetty, Bam ba lam, (sorry, couldn't help it)

86?

a friend of mine had one just like it. it got totaled on the freeway and he bought a 85 carbed 5.0. and a 92 1.8 capri(they cahanged to a miata body style)

the Fi 5.0 is easier to turbo and find certain parts for.

good cars, i would rather have one of those than a mustang.

get a capri style hatch back, they look way better

The price sounds pretty right to me, but you may want to try just listing that car on eBay, they didn't make nearly as many 5.0 Mercury Capris as they did Mustangs, I had one here last year that I was going to do the same with, and ended up selling it for 3 times what I paid for it and taking a low milage parts car that suited my purposes in trade.
The Capris have gained a following, I guess simply because their different. Too bad that one doesn't still have it's bubble hatch. They bring good money by themselves.
As far a whether to go fuel injection or carb, Fuel injection would be my only choice, regardless of the year of the vehicle.
Easy starts, plenty of speed parts available, and FI can be made emissions legal.
