Finally swapped my rear (PICS)

Finally got around to swapping out my rear on my truck. I had bought a explorer axle and was gonna do it that way but Pete (Gearhead299) found a level 2 axle and was nice enough to grab it up for me. Thanks man I owe you. So i just bolted the disc setup onto the L2 axle. So now I have a Torsen L/S and 4 wheel discs. I did this on my own, and its not a one person job. Good thing i had my gf's car to drive for a couple days while shes in wildwood. The ubolts and spring plates I got from Jeffs Bronco Graveyard for i think $60 shipped which was by far the cheapest i found, even local shops wanted $12 a piece for ubolts. The difference in braking is unreal! It makes a huge difference.

Man thats awesome. I couldnt find one in a salvage yard for less than $500 and i called the guy who rebuilt my 3.0 and he said $800 with no internals. so i settled for the explorer with disks for $150

Looks good welcome to the Level II axle club HAHAHA

What all do you need from the explorer for the disc brake swap?

I paid 400 for my Level II axle and it only had 8,000 miles on it out of a 2006

I think you would need both backing plates, rotors, calipers, pads, rubber brake lines (that connect to the calipers), you would have to bend a newhard line going from caliper to caliper @ the rubber lines, the parking break cables, the whole parking brake system including the parking brake shoes, hardware, and the piece that the parking brake cable

I THINK thats what all you would need. IMO the explorer swap would be and cheaper(for those who do not have a LVII axle) to do due to already having most parts(esp that of the parking brake system) and maybe easier because i dont know if its a direct swap or not...you would have to ask the OP
