Hey guys hows it going? So today i was sitting in the drive threw in the timmes. When this black ranger looking truck pulls up behind me. I pay no attention at firs. Then as i turn to pull up to the speaker box i see a different type of sticker on the side. Instead of it saying ranger... it says thunderbolt. what they hell kind of truck is that. I have never seen one like that before nor heard of one. it looked like a normal black ranger but instead of saying ranger it says thunderbolt. can someone fill me in.

The FordSVT edition was named Lightning Bolt or something... Only one of them was made, still belongs to SVT though. Has the lightning motor and rear end. They chopped the axel down to fit in the Ranger wheel wells... Was a good looking build....

 

Yep...SVT Lightning Bolt. Was a purple or sonic blue stepside. Had the '03 Lighting 385hp engine in it and the rear end as well. I wanna say they even put all the Lightning brakes on it too..but idk.

 

Yeah they had all the lightning brakes... Basically took a Lightning frame and motor and tossed a ranger body on it... Everytime I see it I melt and want to try a conversion like that....

 

those SVT lightning wheels look pretty good on a ranger. I never new they tried to make a Ranger into a lightning. they could easily do something similar. use the 4.0L engine and add a S/C. That would be killer

 

Shane i saw that truck everyday when i worked at Roush. yes it had all of the Lightning power train had to move the firewall back. they graphted the front suspension of a lightning on it, then also put a custom rear end set up with a lightning rear end in it.

god i loved that truck it just sits in a building or outside in the vehicle lot not even under a cover i was the only one that ever covered it when i worked there... interior parts are falling off paint its getting chipped from people running into it... so sad wish i could buy uit

 

You would be in line behind me to buy it...lol I wanted that truck since i saw it in Motor Trend or some magazine....

I think it didn't make production cause it was faster than the lightning and the Mustang... Ford would not have a lil Ford Ranger being a best seller...

 

It was an SVT play toy 'look what we can do' sorta deal....prototype not intended for any sort of production. Think it was build for SEMA '03?

 

would have made for a hell of a truck... if I did all that for a play toy and I was a CEO, I'd make that into production... $$$

 

Somebody steal that thing! Shame to hear that it doesnt get taken care of at all.
