Horns

So... I'm sick of the wimpy girly horn in my truck. I don't want anything as extreme as train horns or anything, just something hopefully to remove and reinstall with little cutting, etc. My dad's Five Hundred has a very loud horn, could I just go to the wreckers and grab one? I'm assuming there's just that single horn behind the grille, but I know many vehicles have a high and a low tone...

Are you sure both horns are working?

I only see one on mine... unless the other one is hiding. As far as I know everything is working properly. It sounds the same as it always has, which is the same as my '97 and my Dad's old '00 as well.

One of mine went out right after I bought it, I thought all these trucks had a dual tone horn

Yeah, you can just wire a different horn up.

Thanks, figured it must be fairly straight forward.

it might be a single unit, just dual tone. I just remember taking it back to the dealership and they replaced it

I picked up a set from Griot's Garage about 2 months ago--I'd finally had enough with the wussy factory single horn. They call them "Super Loud American Horns"--they sound MUCH better. Their is a sound clip on Car Care, Detail Supplies, Garage Organization, Car Accessories - Griot's Garage 800-345-5789 Part #77416 $39.99. Took about an hour to install them and well worth it.
