What is needed to lift my truck?

For several weeks now, everytime I see a lifted ranger, I wish I would have lifted mine. The reason I lowered it was b/c I wanted to make it into a mustang saleen or something, which did not happen at all. I like it like it is, but sometimes I wish it was jacked up with meaty tires sticking out past the fenders. lol Im not sure I'll be able to lift it or not........seeing how i've lowered it....(not sure if my parents would be to happy about that, cause I'll be redoing something after I wanted to lower it)....i'll have to put my truck back to stock and sell everything first, but anyways. I wanted to see how much it would cost to lift it. What is the biggest coil lift you can put on a 2wd without haveing to change spindles and control arms? (more $$) Im assuming 2 inches, and still be able to align it. I've got the shackles that are used in the drop kit on my truck, which will lift the back 2". And then put a 3" body lift on for a total of about 5". What size tire could I get on it, and not be stuffing the wheel wells? 33's? Anything else i'll need other than the lift itself? What kind of cost are we looking at here? If I were to change out the rear end gearing to the right gears, I would be able to keep the same acceleration and mpg I have now right?

ALSO, if you got pics of a 2wd ranger lifted about 5" with 31's or 33's, or a 4wd ranger with the same hieght of a 2wd lifted 5".....Post pics.

yeah.. that sounds pretty reasonable. i would think you could easily fit 33's, just do some 4.10 gears and you would be fine with 33's.

Mark98xlt 02-24-2007 02:26 PM

ew, keep it same height or go lower. I dont think your truck will look good at all lifted.

HarryTasker 02-24-2007 03:11 PM

Agreed,

Your truck looks better lowered then it will lifted. The paint is definitely for a lowered truck.

I would say keep the truck. and save up for a 4x4 extended cab. Or just the new ranger in 2010.

:stupid:

dont lift your truck....i really like it lowered....the paint wouldn't go on a lifted Ranger....

Im not sure how the 2.5 would do with 33"s I know someone here does have 33"s on a 4 banger,,

My 2wd 4banger with 31"s and 3" Spindle & 2" Blocks..

gay-briel had 33s on his 2.5 and if i remeber correctly he was gonna put 35s. that was spindles and body and uppercontrol arms and lift coils. justin(rangerjustin) is selling the upper contol arms and the lift coils. you would just need the spindles

Redneckstone 02-24-2007 06:10 PM

dude its a 4cyl... take advice from someone who has lifted a 4cyl ...DONT DO IT...

yellow rhino 02-24-2007 07:30 PM

Heres my with 3 inch spindles and 31s

04BlackFX4 02-24-2007 07:43 PM

hey man i wouldnt lower it either, that truck would look really good with some 15 inch wide tires just in the back. it would look good especially with the stepside.then a black tonneu cover, leather thats if you dont already have one.

doubtful hes going to be able to fit 15" wide tires in the back... its not a drag car...

ill give you 200$ for your rims and tires if you decide to lift.... :spam:

Hanzo Steel 02-25-2007 09:52 AM

Keep it lowered, its too nice of a paint job to go thrashing on it.

 :slap:

I thought it would look good lifted but oh well.......lowered does have advantages......better handling....faster......alot less likely to flip than lifted trucks.

SHOman86 02-25-2007 02:40 PM

im kinda in between it looks good lowered but someone needs to do a better photoshop n see what it will look like

yellow rhino 02-25-2007 02:48 PM

keep your truck lowered and buy a trail rig.

BBBB51 02-25-2007 08:00 PM

I DIDNT THINK IT WOULD LOOK GOOD EITHER when everyone was saying it wouldnt but hey paintshop pro can sure change your mind.It really does look good lifted.

04BlackFX4 02-26-2007 04:50 PM

oh sorry i meant to say lift* sorry about that. but yea keep it the same. it looks nice.

Quiefinator 02-26-2007 05:39 PM

truck looks nice lowered, definitely buy a trail truck if you want one

especially if you are 2wd kinda guy, you should have your pick of the litter for good offroad potential, without being trashed already

once you have 2 trucks you'll neveeer go back, being able to wheel the **** outta it till it breaks on sunday night, park it and drive to work on monday with the DD is so awesome, you can do things on your time when you want, not just because you have to make it too work tomorrow and need to fix it in a hurry
