I need a box to ship a bumper. It needs to be about 70" long/tall then 22" x 22" give or take an inch or two. Where the heck do you guys get a box to ship something this big? I made a few calls and nobody has one or knows where to get one. I see other people sell stuff like this, how do they ship it? Should I just buy a crap laod of bubble wrap, newspaper, foam pieces and make a custom box thing out of duct tape?

Here is my idea. Wrap it up in newspaper, then a few inches thick of bubble wrap, another few layers of newspaper, then another few inches of foam, do this a few times until I feel it is sufficiently packaged. Then duct tape the whole thing like crazy to keep all they layers and the package in place. I would also use duct tape between each layer so it's held together well.

Anybody know if UPS will ship it like this? It won't be in an actual box but it will be in my own indestructable contraption, well unless a truck runs it over, lol. Thanks

 

Stop by your local costco and aske them for a couple slip sheets. They are 40"x40" peices of cardboard. Get yourself a roll of duct tape and go to town.

As for shipping go to greyhound.com and click package express. They have fairly reasonable shipping prices. I sent a package that was 71x30x21" and it was $80.

 

duct tape is heavy. use packaging tape.

we shipped a similar item before, rap it in bubble wrap and the corners in card board like mark said.

UPS will take it. mine was wrapped in news paper thin layer and in packaging tape no damage.

 

wish i had a pic of how he wrapped my brush guard he basically tore a box apart and wrapped it around it a bunch lol

 

Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe call any dealership - Ford, Chevy, Nissan.

I work at FedEx and a lot of auto parts get shipped w/o boxes -- so if it is wrapped well you shouldn't have a problem. UPS is the same. Good luck.
