When did your 2wd get stuck?

I don't know if this is a thread, but the whole mall crawler thing annoys me.

My 2wd usually gets stuck in soft sand, then again... when I'm walking I get stuck in soft sand lol

Although I suck at climbing hills.

In the mud; I was sitting on axles and other time I had water up to the bottom of the door and covering the tail gate. Last but not least I was at a 50+ degree angle in the mud, rear wheels fell in a hole. IMO 4x4 would not have helped in those times.

I love my 2wd son of a Mazda!

I usually get stuck in the mud, nothing else. I still put my 2wd through stuff some people wouldn't put a 4wd through.

Not usually, just small rivers. I was stock height until just before Christmas and I haven't taken the truck off road much since I have been lifted.

Mine climbed hills pretty good, it was stopping at the top that got me stuck.

I'm a 4wd but I will contribute. I have only been stuck twice in my life. Both times was because of crappy tires. The first time was in some mud. I went through a mud pit just fine one way and I got stuck coming back through it. There was a mound that I had to climb to get out. My truck was too low and I smashed my valance into the mound. So I said ok I'll just back out of it. Nope! I was there for a good 2 hours before someone pulled me out. My buddy's truck was too small and everyone else that came by didn't help. It took a 80's Chevy Diesel on 40's to pull me out.

Second time it was snow. It was a small incline up but it was snowy as hell. We had already been on the trail for 10 hours and we were tired. Why were we on the trail for 10 hours? Lets just say that 2wd and snow don't mix. So whatever I did I could not get my truck up this incline. I would try 4wd low in 2nd and it would just spin all four tires. 4wd high in 1st would do the same. I was there for a good hour then I finnally caught traction and made it up half way. I backed up a bit to get some speed and I got stuck again. I got out to clear the snow from my tires and then I started to try and get out. I had left the parking brake on and I floored it in 4wd low and tore the wheel cylinders off of the backing plate. Yeah I know. My fiends we coming back from pulling the other trucks up the hill and I just had them pull me out.

I get stuck everywhere. No joke.

Mud, soft sand, etc

It's not driver, it's not truck, nor wheels and tires, just MOST the stuff I have for wheeling around me is insanely deep and mucky or too small of a trail for a truck. So I end up gettin stuck real easy.

I like water though :)

It is a pain to drive up a steep snowy hill in two wheel drive, especially with an open diff. I can get pretty far in two wheel drive as long as i keep my momentum up.

I know what you mean. At my campus, I park in a parking garage and they are horrible for clearing off the snow and ice from the ramps. The ramps are probably like 30 degree angle and when there is ice and snow on them, it's so hard to get up. Even cars get stuck. My only other time was in like 10 inches of snow lol. I made it down the street but going into the driveway was a pain.

Ok all 3 times Ive been stuck (needed assistance / tow to get out ) If I can get myself out im not stuck just imobilized for a few minutes .

1st was a clay road , I was doing fine made a turn and fish tailed my rear out and couldnt stop , I wound up in standing water redclay I sunk up to my LCAs I could have dug out but had a friend hook me up .

2nd same place I was going through a section that had deep ruts . I put one wheel in the center and the other on the right side of trail , I got on an incline and front slipped in the rut once again high centered.

3rd time I was going to drive in , on one side is a gravle pad that if its to wet youll start to sink but you can get enough traction to back out well it was blocked via track loader (I failed to notice it was stuck and the dump truck 300 yds ahead was buried to the bupers ) I went to the other side , I pass the hottest cougar so I figure I make a runing go and show of well , where the concrete ended , I sank the second my tires hit clay. rested right on the frame rails , with a loud metalic ping .
She rolls up in tears laughing and say you push Ill rock it out (my kind of chick ) she sees how bad it is and pats me on the chest and says "Your F#####" ...

I have issues in sand but if I keep up my momentum Im good , clay is fine and mud I pick my lines well mt problem is my front end slips into trouble zones because my front tires dont pic up traction . I personaly dont think I need 4x4 it would come in handy but I made a budget build list and can get my truck where it needs to be , for less than the down payment on a new one ( mines paid off )

My fix will be a good set of 30x9.50-R15s (maxxis bighorns) , Fab-Tech2.5 lift coils , 8.8 with Eaton E-Locker and two Mile Marker PE8000 pound winches one up front and one under the bed (maybee) . Im curently working on all this look for some pics in a new thread to come .

I've been stuck at least 40 times. I get stuck in sand, mud, snow, ruts...

Ha! The first day I had it!

Then after lift, gears, 32" mud tires, and a fresh limited slip...

Then after a "river-silt-on-dirt-road-incident"...

Then in the snow...

Then in a little manuever I like to call "high centered"...

2wd just ain't what I thought it would be.

Only time I got stuck I was stock w/street tires..

Texas Clay hides right under the mud.. so I was going good, slowed down a bit, started spinning the back tires, and got pulled out by a fellow ranger..

after pics:

About 6 months later I lifted her 3/2 with 31"s.. now Im lowered 2/2.. muhahaha

I took my old 2wd ranger down the same trails that i take my new 08' 4x4, and for a 2wd it was pretty impressive, the short wheel base of the regcab/short box, got me through everything.

The first time I took my 2000 offroading, I got it stuck in this nasty, wet, clay-like mud.. and it was about 40 degrees outside so that didnt help. The tacoma 4cyl that tried to get me out was just sliding everywhere (too light I suppose), it finally took the combination of a '99 Z71 silverado and a jeep to get me out. That's what I get for taking a 2wd/open diff truck with all terrain tires out in the mud!

coming from the 4wd community to the 2wd community..

let me be the first to say.. im SORRY!

2wd, technically 1wd because the rear end is as good as open. i HATE it, i get stuck left and right in mud, on the rocks, in the snow.... i cant wait until i go to the dunes in a few weeks that'll be a ****in trip HA

locked 4x4 FTW! haha
...its just another axle to bury though

i can still do a lot of stuff i just need to hit it harder and that means more stuff breaks. where as rocks you cant really hit harder so im missing 4x4 when it comes to that.
