Tying it down messes up the tuning temporarily, because the antenna is no longer aerial. However, for temporary storage or to get it out of the way of drive-thru's/parking garages, I just used a simple short bunjee cord attached to the front tie ring to keep it down.

I do occasional highway driving, and don't exactly wanna **** anyone off with it..

Does it work better tied down or straight up?

Assuming it is tuned.

I bought a clip especially for that purpose off eBay. It was a military surplus item.

It work real well. Only cost me about seven dollars shipped from ebay and they hold a coat of paint very well.

That's the one! I think I'm gonna remove the rope and rivet/screw it to my roof rack for my 102" whip. Yeah, I still got it and it's going on the new truck =]

I have a Radio Shack CB I have never hooked up, but now that I have a plan to mount it, I need to figure out an antenna. I'm thinking of one of the monster 102" but wondered if I would be better off with something a wee bit shorter.

Anyone with ideas?

I'd go with a lil three foot fiberglass stick if I were you.

Wow im surprised no one has any magnetic mounts.. I use a lil wilson magnetic mount whip antenna. Its great. I just hide it behind my seat when im not using it and when I do use it i put it up top.

No scratches on the roof either, you just have to be carefull how you put it on and take it off.
