They would work better IF you would install one on the front bumper and one on the rear bumper giving you more than 10' between antennas. Cophased antennas were originally designed to work on the 18 wheelers due to the trailer blocking their signals making them extremely directional on the RX/TX without them.
Having talked with local members of our HF radio club.... and personally run quite a few varieties of CB setups over the years... The best setups for the least amount of investment have been the 102" whip or the Wilson 1000/5000, with an old style Cobra 25, 29 or 148 GTL or a Uniden 66, 68, 76, 122 or Grant XL/LT. Upgrade the coax to LMR 240 and run a little fire in the wire.... Entire setup will cost you about $350; which includes the tuning of the SWR and performance tune of the radio.
As for my self.... I have tried running a RCI Ranger 6900 FTB, RCI 2950DX, Kenwood TS-50S and several other radios. I now have settled on a old style Cobra 148 GTL with a Yaesu MH1B8 mic that I have had for many years....
My antenna setup consists of a Wilson 5000 magnet mount with SIRIO 4000PL 7/8 wave antenna with upgraded LMR 240 coax and SWR of 1.0 for the frequencies I run most often.
When the skip is in.... on SSB; I have talked to Ontario, Canada and NSW, Australia while driving on the highway. On AM which I use rarely.... I can talk 20 miles or more....
But the best setup for talking while on the road or on the trail while offroading is the use of a 2 meter radio.... Bouncing repeaters will allow you to talk when CBs and cell phones just wont do it....

very good info

no offense, but that sounds like a wannabe trucker to me...i mean if you travel for a living and you need the talking distance that's fine, but what are you gonna do with 20 miles of range on the highway that you can't do with 1????

Umm... I've got a cheapo Colt CB that I bought from the local CB shop, and a 102" whip with a potbelly spring.

Actually on the highway I generally use either SSB or 2 meter.... I can talk WAY further....
My base station allows me to talk to Puerto Rico, Alaska, Figi, Central America, Yukon Territory and Hawaii..... Much more fun that talking on AM.
