Why when I brake does the vehicle lurch forward?

Have a 2011 Ranger 4 cylinder. When I come to a full stop with the brake pedal depressed, the truck will stop then lurch or "bump" forward a slight bit. Is this a transmission issue? Is this some other issue? Does not happen each time but frequently. Thanks!

Welcome to North America Ranger forum

You most likely have a T6 Ranger, we never had those models here, our Rangers were smaller versions, 1983 to 2011

No, I wouldn't think automatic transmission issue, its possible the torque converter lock solenoid is sticking but very much of a long shot

Brakes are brakes, I would guess you have a front caliper that sticking or maybe a flex brake hose is failing
Does it seem to pull to one side when it "lurches"?

Although I don't have a T6 I enjoyed learning about its existence. Never knew that. Body style is different. I just have a North American market little Ranger. Bought it used and finding more little quirks as it's become my daily driver. I will have the brakes looked at. Thank you VERY much for replying I appreciate it.

Saw Melbourne as your location so thought Australia

As my ranger slows to a stop, the transmission downshifts to 1st and surges forward as you stop.

Might be what you are feeling. It would be more noticable based on the condition of your brakes.

Seems so. But it does it at different intervals. So I guess a lot of it factors on conditions and of course me (my driving habits). Best course of action would be to have it checked out. I’m a little weary. Tires Plus wants $750.00 to do a brake job on my ‘14 Escape. Crazy!

Maybe I should change it to “Melboring” to avoid confusion!
