Why when I brake does the vehicle lurch forward?
Have a 2011 Ranger 4 cylinder. When I come to a full stop with the brake pedal depressed, the truck will stop then lurch or "bump" forward a slight bit. Is this a transmission issue? Is this some other issue? Does not happen each time but frequently. Thanks!

Welcome to North America Ranger forum
You most likely have a T6 Ranger, we never had those models here, our Rangers were smaller versions, 1983 to 2011 Try this forum: https://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=371 No, I wouldn't think automatic transmission issue, its possible the torque converter lock solenoid is sticking but very much of a long shot Brakes are brakes, I would guess you have a front caliper that sticking or maybe a flex brake hose is failing Does it seem to pull to one side when it "lurches"? |
Although I don't have a T6 I enjoyed learning about its existence. Never knew that. Body style is different. I just have a North American market little Ranger. Bought it used and finding more little quirks as it's become my daily driver. I will have the brakes looked at. Thank you VERY much for replying I appreciate it.

Saw Melbourne as your location so thought Australia

As my ranger slows to a stop, the transmission downshifts to 1st and surges forward as you stop.
Might be what you are feeling. It would be more noticable based on the condition of your brakes. |
Seems so. But it does it at different intervals. So I guess a lot of it factors on conditions and of course me (my driving habits). Best course of action would be to have it checked out. I’m a little weary. Tires Plus wants $750.00 to do a brake job on my ‘14 Escape. Crazy!

Maybe I should change it to “Melboring” to avoid confusion!
