Wierdest thing

My truck did the weirdest thing on me today, i went to kragen to get a heater control valve because mine was leaking. Got out of the truck went inside, was in there for about five minutes got my part and paid went back out, started it up, put my stereo faceplate on buckled up and put it in reverse. Started backing out cranked the wheels all the way left and it died. so put it in park and started up fine, drove fine braked fine, and steered fine and has not done it again yet. Any ideas. could i have just stalled the pump out or something?

Power Steering Pump should go over relief and not stall your engine, maybe it was a little slow to react and killed it.

I know in 02 they had a bunch of bad fuel pumps and they didn't just quit like you think they would, they just wouldn't always supply the engine with enough fuel to run all the time. I remember this being a big issue when I worked at the Ford Dealer back then. Kinda forgot about it til today though.

I would suspect the fuel pump relay contacts are starting to get pitted .
Might be a good idea to have a spare or just swap it out.
