Tranny Cooler

I installed a Aeroforce Scan gauge in my truck a few weeks back and i have noticed that the tranny temps get pretty high. Highest i seen it was so far is 185 but thats to high for my liking being as in the summer im sure its going to be alot higher. I want to add a cooler. Are there any ranger site that offer a kit? I dont want to use barb fittings and rubber lines. I want to run braided line and an fittings. If there isnt a kit do is there a how to with the correct fittings.

I havent even looked to see if my truck has a factory cooler, does it? Its a 2007 XL 2.3L auto withOUT factory towing package.

The trans fluid is as high as 185F now because it runs through a heat exchanger in the radiator. This provides quicker transmission warmup in the winter and transmission cooling in all seasons. In normal summer driving, it should not get that much higher. If you need more cooling in the summer for towing or whatever, you can add an oil-to-air aux cooler.

AN fittings, adapters and braided hose are readily available from Summit and many other sources. You'll need to adapt them to work with the factory hardlines and run the aux cooler in series after the heat exchanger.

I didn't like my Sport trac at 180 degrees all the time either. I had a bigger stacked plate style transmission cooler installed (still plumbed the same) and it dropped the trans temp 20 degrees all around.

Bob is right, it won't get much higher than it is now under normal circumstances, but I felt a lot better looking at 160 than 180+.
