Winch on the way!

Winch on the way!
Well, with the tax return on it's way I figured it was time to finally get a winch. No more need for others to try and bail out the 4x2.
I got a Warn (spared nothing there) X8000i multi-mount portable winch. It comes with the carrier, the x8000i winch and quick power connects for the front. Got it off ebay, new, for $790 shipped. Best price I found for that winch and only about $200 or so more than trying to piece together a portable Milemarker. But a lot of guys swear by their Warns (as do Milemarker guys) but I didnt want to chance it, I hope to have it for a while. Plus the line speed is unbelievable, I think 42 ft per min with no load. That's something Milemarker guys drool over.
Next step is to get an Optima battery (Yellow Top for deep cycling, though red top would look sweet in there, remember function over form) and get some recovery gear (D Shackles, tree saver strap, gloves, and ****** block). And further down the road, the power connects to run to the rear, for winching from the rear receiver.
Hey Tom, want to go out some time for some winching 101? First hand experience will teach me a lot more than any book. Though I will be sure to read up some more. I already started reading the Warn manual online.

hahaha..Very nice...Good to see someone else getting a winch besides me..Your right about people having different taste in winches..I personally would only go with Milemarker which i have now(PE8000)....It has helped me out in a few situations already and helped others out too! Its a great investment for the 2wd guys out there!

Tina and I drove her Explorer from NJ to Portland, OR towing my 4'x8' utility trailer onto which I built a 6'high box. It was a very interesting drive and while I wish I had gotten to see Utah in the daytime, we wouldn't have made it in time had I not driven that stretch thru the nite.
