wondering if this would produce a more efficient burn thus translating to better mileage. or is the stock coil as good as it gets? mine's a 98 ranger 3.0.

any thoughts or experience with the Screamin Demon?

 

the Screamin' Demon gave me about 1mpg in my 4.0.....can't say for the 3.0 though.......

 

is it even available for the 3.0? or is there another brand...Accel, MSD?

no there isn't one from other manufactures.....

 

The stock coil pack is very good. Spark is spark. If your factory coil isn't malfunctioning, there should be nothing to gain from an aftermarket coil.

 

Don't throw your money away on after market coil packs, or ignitions. The Ford EDIS system would be hard to beat!!! Matter of fact, the after market coil packs and ignitions don't have the reliability testing the OEM Ford stuff has!

 

have you ever tried the Screamin' Demon? have you done any testing with it?

with the Screamin' Demon, i will say it again for you, after gapping out my plugs to .065" i got an increase of 1-2 mpg........not to mention, smoother idle, and faster pickup.......

If you feel good about the Screamin Demon, and you can justify spending money on it in your mind, that's great!! In your previous post, you said it gave you about 1MPG increase, now it's gone to 1-2MPG, if you keep posting you will be up to 5MPG!!!!

Now, back to reality, show me a truly independent dyno test that the Screamin Demon made any difference at all!!

I thought this thread was about mileage. A more efficient motor, is always higher power and better mileage with proper driving.


John, you're best bet is to start on intake and exhaust upgrades. Programmer, change them plugs, seafoam, etc. try out Lucas Oil Fuel Treatment.....Gave me a 3.5 mpg increase after 2 tanks.

 

And what do you think a dyno measures??????????

 

Thanks for the help. Already did the exhaust and intake (Magnaflow, K&N). Gonna get the Bamachip ordered this weekend. I wanna do the seafoam, but I just changed my oil so that's gonna have to wait. I'll do the plugs then too.

Sounds like the coil pack I have is gonna work fine for me.
