Get some wd-40 and spray it into the door jam. There is a part that sometimes gets stubborn and this will take car of it.

The same thing happened to me. I used wd-40 (^) it went away. The suck part is, I just took my dome lights out so it wouldn't drain the batt. Then I lost one, so I have no driver's side map light.

the door latch,,, in the door. If that's made of metal, black, and tab shaped, then yes.

We had to call Ford to find the door sensor, it's built into the latching mechanism inside the door.

My advice, don't overdue it. give it a squirt or 2, open and close the door a few times and see what happens.

If the WD-40 wears off or doesn't work you can also try some white lithium grease in a spray can. The store brand wanna-be WD-40 "multi-purpose spray lube" evaporated and stopped working after about a week. I used the white lithium spray grease after that and haven't had the problem since (been about 4 or 5 months now I think).

I used the wd40 approach like a year ago and it still works fine here. just dont need to over do it just a couple squirts.

The battery wouldn't drain. It shuts off automatically after a few minutes. Just FYI to Ross so he doesnt worry.

try it again, i had to drench mine. slam the doors hard a few times after you apply the wd-40.

Do you have a 4dr? When I dont close my back doors well enough either the doors will always be ajar or it will randomly turn on, even if I slam my front doors.

when mine had the door ajar light on, the dome light was on all the time...
so i pulled the fuse as well to stop the batt. from draining.

drenching both door latches with wd-40 and slamming both doors a bunch of times cured it.
i think the problem on mine was the passenger door because it gets way less use normally...
