to be honest nothing, just a simple 30min video, go into the shop watch someone do it. then practice on all the diff window types till u get it figured out. techniques and tips, fixing fingers, mostly just practicing your cuts and get all the bubbles out :) wasnt a long class, its pretty simple just takes practice.

side windows are easy, its the rear that sucks as u can imagine, some shops wont carry the long 40" wide rolls so you have to learn to do seamless tinting, using 2 pieces of tint for the rear windshield and not seeing the seam when your done

I did a rear window on a 90 firebird. It was a pain. Took about 3 hours to get it right. I wont ever do it again.

Impressive... tinting a window is something I don't ever see myself attempting... just easier to pay the $60 to have it done.

$60?! Jeez...local shop here charged me $200 to do all 4 doors and rear window on my Cadillac.

I've never paid less than $170 for a tint job.

I paid $170 to have a std cab pickup tinted 3 years ago. Most other tint jobs Ive had done were $200-250.

I have a question then, is it easier and better if you take the glass out and tint it?

No not really. The back glass maybe since its very easy to get out. As for the doors, not worth the risk of breaking the glass.

It makes life a lot easier with the new computer cutting templates. The computer just cuts it to size for each window, which saves labour time and all the installer has to do is install the tint. The shop I get my tint done at uses this.

I was thinking about redoing mine and thought it might turn out better if I took the glass out and put it on. It is easy to take the glass out. I thought I would just ask you since you are taking a class.

i would love to take a window tinting class and start doing this myself. I would probably always have a shop do my rear, but the doors i could do.

Sounds about right. I did the same thing on my Ranger. Check local state laws though. Here in the Province of Ontario, driver and passenger side windows can only be 35% min. I have 14% all around and never been bothered about it. Just depends on the local PD, how you drive, and where you live.
