Window visor opinions
So I think I'm going to get AVS in channel window visors from Auto Anything, I'm curious if anyone has painted theirs. I'm not sure how it would look, I'm leaning against it personally.
Also, has anyone removed the AVS logo from them? How difficult was it? Lastly, I have some Niteshade left over from tinting my taillights. I thought about darkening them up, but I don't know how dark they already are. Anyone got interior pics? |
I dont have the AVS ones personally but mine are in channel window visors and in my pics you can see the vent guards they make it look nice and they are smoke tinted.

First off, check out summit racing they have them for cheaper than that. Second I remember someone using brake fluid or something to take the logo off, I have not gotten around to do it so dont know how well it actually works. Third, dont try and nightshade them. They are dark enough as they are IMO.

I found these at summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AVS-192083/
Yea, Niteshading may be a bad idea, in case it spatters and looks uneven, then I'll regret it |
Just noticed with shipping Summit is the same price as Auto Anything. Auto Anything has free shipping

I want in channel ones
|
those say they are the snap in ones. if it doesnt go in the channel what do they snap into? I have the in channel ones and dont remember paying nearly that much.

I had 2 or 3 sets of the in channel type fail on my 89 Ranger. The doors had that rubbery felt liner in the top where the window tucks in and the visors didn't like to stick in there. They always flew out. I tried everything but nothing changed. Ever since then I've went with the larger "offroad" type of visors. They stick to the outside of the door and are much larger. They block quite a bit more rain, mud, etc from coming into the truck. I LOVE the ones on my 2001 Ranger.
Plus these are different and no one really has them, which I like. GB :) |

Only the ones in my album on here... Sorry.
They're about twice the height of the in channel ones, so they block alot more window. You can roll it down further and still stay dry. GB :) |

Online somewhere. I'll see if I can find them again..

They should be the Aerovisor - 95083 They say in the description that they're the "off road" version which are larger than a normal Vent Visor. Worth the extra cash to me.. They aren't as sleek looking as the Weathertech that everyone seems to like and use. They "bubble out" more and are twice as tall, but do a better job of blocking things from coming in and let the window be rolled down more. If you're looking for a low profile guard then these aint it. lol I liked them because no one else had them.

Those are pretty big, but I bet they do block quite a bit more than the standard ones.
I still think I'm going to go with the sleeker ones, just because they're more subtle |

They aren't that large. Once they're on there for a week you hardly notice they're installed. To each his own though ;) GB :) |
I had the AVS snap-in ones when I first got the '04--hated how they fit, so I ended up buying the 'regular' ones with the 3M tape. Make an offer and I'll send you my snap-in ones (if I can find them, they're in A-1 condition).

I have the AVS on both my Ranger and my B4000 and love them. You can have the windows open in the rain and, in the summer, you can crack the windows for extra ventilation. In addition, they're great for smokers who like to ash their smoking materials out of the window with minimal disruption to the passengers.
I had no desire to paint mine...the dark smoke tint matches well with the black trim on the trucks |

not the best picture but here is an idea of how dark AVS shades are.

I bought mine from advance auto parts for 46 dollars out the door. actually, just got them last week.
They fit great, and dont hit the window when you roll it up. The avs ones for my f150 didnt fit all that great and they all hit when I would roll the window up. |
All the reviews online didn't mention any fitment issues with the rangers
