Winter Weight

How much weight do you guys put in your bed for winter time?
Personally i put in 240 lbs of salt. it seemed to help me last winter with all of the ice and snow in ohio.

Redneckstone Dec 8, 2009 05:10 PM

none minus my spare and tool box

coleary15 Dec 8, 2009 07:34 PM

i just bought new tire and rims so i put all 4 old ones and the spare in the back...worked on monday when we got ice and snow

Downey Dec 8, 2009 07:56 PM

FULLSCALE Dec 8, 2009 07:58 PM

4X4 here as well, but I still have 240lbs of sand in the box. Makes a difference for sure!

Not always true. You can still get stuck in the snow in four wheel drive. I've done it several times.

I run 3-5 80 pound bags. I probably won't have any in the truck this winter because I've been hauling more than that every day to the job site and back, lol.

"bull****" ive got 4x4 and that still isnt enough in these light trucks unless you drive like a grandma.

I usually carry 4 or 5 full sand bags seems to do the trick.

01RangerEdge Dec 8, 2009 09:48 PM

Got a toolbox full of goodies which makes for a good amount of extra weight

other than that none, haven't got stuck yet (knock on wood)

Hanks Rangers Dec 8, 2009 09:49 PM

put em towards the cab and not the back of the bed

BULL**** hahahaa... lol really tho I personally havent had any issues with snow being 4x4 and my Cepeks :biggthump

shizzy Dec 8, 2009 10:14 PM

I usually run 210LBS if sand in the bed.

I used to run lots more, but then I realised I just had tires that were no good.

jtfoxman Dec 8, 2009 10:15 PM

I put lots of snow in mine.

93rangerXLT4x4 Dec 9, 2009 12:19 AM

not a damn thing usually and im 4wd and drive on ****ty roads and i havent had a problem.. the only time i slid off the road was because i was in 2wd with bare patches and compact snow and ice on the road and was only doing 50-60kph, well under the 80kph speed limit.. slid off into some dude front yard, missed a power pole by oh about 4 inches got the truck running again in the ditch got er in 4wd and drove out no problems.

the end of my truck is soooo light it doesnt really matter how much weight i put in it, it still goes all over the place.. i had two 24x30 concrete slabs in my truck and it didnt do a damn thing.

evilclown312 Dec 9, 2009 12:26 AM

Im fine just runnig around in 4 wheel...... and that was last year on a set of Dueler A/T's....

93rangerXLT4x4 Dec 9, 2009 12:33 AM

i forgot to mention that when i slid in the ditch last winter, i had a brand new set of 31x10.5x15 BFG all terrains on my truck.. i dont have much respect for them tires anymore!!! my worn stockers would have kept me on the road better..

Everyone on here loves them but everyone else says there not worth the money at all, even the reviews.. on tire rack i believe it was....

Ranger_Guy15 Dec 9, 2009 01:09 AM

I sometimes put weight in the back, but I dont really need it, even though the back of these trucks are pretty light.

morris Dec 9, 2009 01:31 AM

i don't see enough snow here to justify having even crappier milage. i just run 4wd when i need it and feather the gas.

karrbass4life Dec 9, 2009 06:26 AM

I just run 4x4 Hi and feather the gas, only weight I add is the snow that mother nature adds for me.
