wish i had 5000

Rust, salvaged, sounds like a POS to me...
|
f-that! i'd pick it up for $5000, that's what he's askin... go in offer him 3000 tell him market value is only 3200 and that it's a generous offer (due to the salvage title) then send me the front hooks... or strip some parts, and beat it up... it's a cheap truck...

For 3k maybe...but if its salvaged, the frame has probably been bent, then with "a fair amount of rust" means the frame could be cracked...Or could easily crack...If you arent mechanically inclined, I wouldnt touch it.

Rust -- There is a fair bit of rust on the underside from driving in shallow salt water in south Texas. It was always washed with fresh water but the gulf coast is very humid and salty. |
As shady As it sounds that thing is just loaded with parts! But I would stay away from it too... I got my new truck for 5 grand, 99 3.0L with 80 thousand on the clock. nothing super special but well worth it being rust free and accident free.
The rust is understandable in washington with the roads and stuff, but he is saying its from texas and it rusted even after he washed it? Remember rebuilt vehicles never ride (or feel) the same as a new or never wrecked vehicle... Your always wondering in the back of your mind what could be wrong... |
It looks like a nice truck, but it just doesnt seem worth it at all
|
If your willing to spend some time and money on it, I'd say go for it.
|
Can't run any worse or have more rust than the Mazda does....I'd buy it.
|
Sounds like a hurricane flood salvage.
|
i really want a fx4 level 2 that's my dream ranger
|
I bet you can find something better.

a lot of you guys are right, the purpose of "totalling" a vehicle, is because the amount of damage on it, would cost more money to fix, than the vehicle is worth... for an overall loss... the fact that someone DID fix it, means they cost cut, and did it for cheap, regardless if it's frame issues, water damage, body damage, the point is, the damage was beyond the point of it being worth the time... and someone has probably half assed it to bring it back to useable condition...
that being said, an off road "who cares if we roll it" truck, why would you want anything but? one more point, if it is a salvage title, that has been re-issed a working VIN, or a re-activated VIN, that means it has been through a safety inspection, generally done by the government, or a government approved facility... you will not see them pass things with unsafe frames, that is the one item that no shop will half ass inspect... so if it has a working VIN, i wouldn't be worried about it's safety, especially if it WAS written off... i would be more suspect if it was NOT written off and for the purpose of parting a vehicle out, a salvage vehicle is PERFECT, low cost, lots of parts! |

just because it has a salvage title doesnt mean that the frame is bent. that doesnt mean ****. the time and money to replace all the front sheet metal with the parts paint and labor. can easily total a truck in no time. doesnt mean the frame is bent
