Is it worth it?
I have a 1999 Ranger XLT ext. Cab 5 speed manual. Needs front end work thanx to a 🦌 lol. Anyhow a guy has a 2001 he would sell for $800. I was wondering if there are enough interchangeable parts(inside and out. Body, engine,ECT.) to make it worth buying. Any idea?

1998 to 2003 hoods and fenders were the same
1998-2000 and 2001-2005 front bumpers were different as were grills but should be fine if swapping over all of it Engine would need to be the same model, 3.0l would be fine, 4.0l were different models, 1999 is OHV, 2001 is SOHC, 4cyls were different unless both were 2.5l Swapping engine models is a BIG DEAL, better to just swap in a V8, same amount of work Go to LMC truck and select your 1999 Ranger then look at cost of replacement parts you think you will need, also factor in all the bits and pieces, i.e. bolts, lens's and bulbs To see if the $800 is a better deal, those bits and pieces add up, in cost but also time it takes to round them up |
If you've got the time and money to spare, I would think that it would be worth it. Plenty of spare body parts and you can always part out what you don't need/want.

Thank you

Yes, the rear axles and springs from 1983 to 2011 are interchangeable, but...................
1983 to 1992 axles were 2" narrower, frames were same width In 1993 Rangers got a slightly wider body, 2" wider, so axles were 2" wider, an inch on each side, so not a big deal But all are interchangeable In 2010/11 the rear axles had disc brakes with an ABS sensor on each wheel so the ABS sensor on the differential was no longer there or needed, that matters in some swaps |
Thank you
