Wow i just did the math on how much im spending in gas in a year.... I Put 15 bucks of gas in my tank each day which is 105 a week which is 420 a month which ends up being about 5 grand a year.... and its only going to get worse once i start school i think i need a DD...
my trucks tank last me a week and a half- two weeks a tank. and i just let it get to a quarter tank left. 35ish to fill up each trip. get about 290-310miles per tank. lately have only been driving to work and back and havnt filled up for two weeks starting today, and im barely at half a tank!200ish miles too. i love my ranger.99 xlt supercab 2wd v6 3.0l flex fuel :D
I've noticed those kia Rios get good mileage and you can pick one up for $4k or less with under 80k miles. There are also those little Chevy Aveos that are pretty cheap too. I don't know about high mileage reliabilty but if it's been taken care of I don't see an issue.

Foxbody . . . no joke. My 88' GT (speed density and fully loaded) was my daily from July 08' to February 09' (yes I drove it in the snow and cold). I could go to my farm and back (45 mile round trip) on 1/8 of a tank at 70-90mph, and it only cost like $50 to fill (for comparison, my 88' GMC Sierra costs about $100 to fill). You may not believe me or take me serious, but if you like Foxbodies, ask or search around, I was amazed the first time I had to gas mine up.
Escort ZX2 and Focus ZX2 (or w/e it's called), Fierro, MR2 (both handle great) are also great, fun little cars. Or a motorbike . . .

But during winter that'll be a problem.
