So I have a 98 Honda CRV that i'll be driving through the winters. My ranger is going to be a summer truck. I don't have room in my garage for the ranger, so it will be stored outdoors.

can anybody share some tips on things i should do to make sure it will start up no problems this coming spring?

i've already washed, waxed, cleaned. Rustproofed and checked all the fluids. I've read that i should fill the gas tank to the top. Others have said to keep a minimal amount of fuel with a stabilizer. I do start up the truck atleast once a week and take it for a drive. I run heater, A.C, let the truck warm up fully and make sure the suspension gets a work out so nothing seizes up. Any more suggestions?

 

If you start it up once a week you shouldn't need to do anything to it.

My Bronco sits for weeks at a time without being driven and it fires up fine and drives fine every time.

 

I've always been told to keep the tank full along with fuel stabilizer.

 

Oh. Unhook the battery. That is if it sits for any decent amount of time.

 

You can get a cheap solar panel at Canadian Tire and keep it on your battery. That's what I do with my lawnmower battery during the winter.

What kind of surface are you storing it on?

 

Asphalt.

If I start up the truck every week should i still disconnect the batt?

 

I've never been a fan of just starting a vehicle while storing it... they need to get up to full operating temperature or you'll have all kinds of condensation.

 

If you start it up, let it sit for awhile until it gets warm.
