Ditching The Gauge Cluster?

Hey everyone, I was just looking through some cool new gauges that we got in at work from www.autometer.com & something came up in my head...

Is there any way to ditch the stock cluster panel & put just a tach & a speedo in but still obtaining the mileage thing? And then I would try & mold together a 2 & 1 piece pod to make it 3 instead of 2 & put anything in those...

What about all your other lights and gauges? You gonna have mini gauges in a pod for them.

Do you want a gauge cluster like a motorcycle? Hardest part seems to be the wiring.

all you would really need to do to..is get a metal backing the size of the cluster cut the holes for what you want work it in and just figure out what you want in it..

this can get expensive now..but i say GO FOR IT

I replaced half of my guage cluster in my BII with aftermarkets. I just cut out half the cluster then cut a piece of MDF to size to fit the hole. Of course I went for function not beauty since its just a trail rig. Sounds like a cool idea.

i was thinking of doing the same type of thing when i get the 302. i think im gone ditch the stock gauges and put a plate in its place with a full set of after markets, i just think that will be the easiest solution for my guages come 302 swap time. plus it will look BA!

Tach and speedo in the stock gauge location on an aluminum sheet, or on a sheet of engine-turned stainless steel, or on aluminum with a carbon fiber applique.

Custom fiberglass center console with any combination of 2-1/16" fuel level, coolant temp, oil pressure, oil temp, voltage, and trans temp gauges. All in angle cup bezels.

I can hook you up with the company who makes the "idiot light" panel for the class 8 trucks we build.

That would be the Nut...

Forgot that I had posted in this thread...

Pacific Insight is the company. I looked into them a little deeper, and it seems they don't have any off-the-shelf parts. They strictly manufacture for other OEMs.

Bummer, because the idiot light panel we put in our class 8 trucks has EVERYTHING!

RPS is down again......what a site......anyway, there's a good thread on gauges where there are some dash shots of completely modded clusters. I was going to link it, but I guess someone hacked the site again. Guess that what pissing off members does...LOL
