went to pick up my newly acquired ranger last night only to find out that the ignition switch seems to be stuck. Ill be going back with tools to remove said ignition this weekend but, i figured id drop a line here and see if this is common with these trucks?

As a side note this truck has been sitting a little over a year now so i wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with that

 

Yes, the key switch does seem to wear out on these and stick.

Just so you get the right parts.
Ignition key lock is the part on the steering column where key goes in to turn it
Ignition switch is under the steering column, it has all the wires.

When you insert the key and turn it, it pushes/pulls on a long bar that slides the ignition switch into ACC, OFF, RUN, START positions

 

Glad to hear its not a rare occurrence, i was afraid it may have gotten wet and rusted or some crazy thing but, ill tear into it this weekend sometime and see what happens.
