02 V6 brake switch pinout clarification

Hello all, and thanks for any help.

I'm installing an electronic brake controller for towing our pop up camper.
I need to splice into the wire that only comes on when the brakes are depressed.
I'm thinking it's the solid green wire.

However, the brake controller manufacturer says:

"Ford added a wire to the stoplight switch on late model trucks and SUV's. This wire is red with a green stripe and is only hot when the brake pedal is depressed. When the pedal is not depressed this wire goes directly to ground."

It goes on to say that the brake controller will fry if I use this wire.

Does my Ranger have a wire as described above? Where is the brake switch on my Ranger?

2002 V6 Flex, 4 door supercab, flareside box.

Thanks all :)

The brake switch should be near the brake pedal arm. As I recall it is up a ways. When I hooked up my trailer brake controller, I tapped into that wire and it has been working well for over 11 years. Mine is a Tekonsha controller.

I checked it by running a needle trough the wire and use multimeter to check the voltage with it on and off. You could also check if it goes to ground that way.
