12 volt plug doesnt work

12 volt plug doesnt work

My 12 volt plug in my 01 ranger hasnt worked since i bought the truck a few years ago. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Check the wiring behind it, your ground, and fuses

Agreed. First check the fuses, then pull the radio out and check the wiring to the back of the cig lighters. Maybe someone had it apart earlier in her life and didn't get the plugs hooked back up. I know I've done it before on other cars.

Which fuse would it be marked as in the fuse box?

Check fuses. If the fuses keep blowing check the connectors.

re wire the whole truck duct tape and zip ties should work

Prolly just twist the wires together, duct tape and zip ties are too time consuming

lol my fuse for the 12v and cig lighter blew cig lighter was number 17 slot and 12v plug was 22 on my 99

The fuse locations can change year to year so just check your owners manual if you have one. I think if I remember right my cigarette lighter fuse had something else tied to it, so I think if it blew you'd have more than one thing not working. (I only blew it once and fixed it immediately so not sure on what all was effected.) So that would make me lean towards wiring but with out my owners manual to confirm what all is on that circuit I can't be sure.
