Icon2 Factory 01' Foglight wiring?

Picked up my 01' ranger today. The guy changed out the front bumper for an edge bumper and it has the fog lights... problem is I don't see the factory harness for the foglights since the truck didn't come with them to begin with...?

Here's what the front of my truck looks like :-)

Anyone know where to get the stock fog light wiring harness? I saw one that looks homemade on ebay for 70 bucks not sure if that's worth it.

Thanks,
-Nigel

your truck might be prewired for fogs...pull out the radio bezel and if there is a plug there thats not plugged into anything then your truck is prewired

I will pull the bezel off tomorrow. but when I looked for the harness under the truck I couldn't find anything at all... Just the little two wire connector that appears to power the ABS sensor? Should the fog harness be right around there? I can't imagine ford not having one harness and using it on all rangers..etc. Seems like a waste to do it any other..

Found this on ebay. Would this work?

Thanks,

the fog light harness should be around the front of the frame if you have it...some trucks arent prewired

i know my 06 i had the plug behind the bezel,BUT did not have the wiring from the fusebox down to the frame... what i did was wire them up like regular aftermarket fogs using the stock switch soo i could run highbeams and fogs

EDIT:

Just checked found the following:

I want stock since the stockers are on my front bumper. I have the wiring behind the radio. No factory switch and no factory wiring from the distro box to the lower fogs...

So I am ordering the bezel with the factory fog. Have to add a fuse in the box. Then somehow from the box to the fog lights?

ACE:

Do you have pics or a how to... would love to do the follow... I just have to add the fuse then after that somehow wire them from the dsitro box to the foglamps... But how to make it work with the factory switch...?

Nigel,

Here's a schematic of the factory switch. You can use as is or modify as needed. Check the backside of your bezel to see if the switch mounting lugs are present. If so, once you get the switch you simply cut the bezel to except the switch with a dremel.

The bezel just as the blank spot to hold the harness connector in place no nuts or anything. I am picking one up on ebay so that's going to save me some money which is good.. didn't want to have to buy a new one and pay 100 bucks for it.

Not to sound like an idiot but the above wiring is confusing me. I'm not sure what I hook up or how to hook it up? are there actual pictures? I tend to understand that than a schematic for some reason? So if I have the connector and just need the switch and fuse for the box. How do I run the wire from the box to the fog lights?

It's probably a lot easier than what I am making it out to be but I am confused?

Thanks,
-Nigel

So I found this:

Would this relay work?

So even though it has 5 wires I only use 4 of them right?

http://www.route66supply.com/store/page85.html

That one is water proof and seems better than the ones I've seen that are not?

Found this on a focus forum and it helps me a lot more... is this the same principle?

Thanks again,
-Nigel

I have done a lot of research on this also, and found that if you have the factory fog light plug in the dash 2 of the 4 wires are already hooked up. The black ground, and the red/blk illumination, but the blu/blk for switch on to the relay is not, neither is the tan/org for the led on indicator.

There are various ways you can wire your lights to work independently from the headlights, or to work with them as stock. You can also wire them to operate and shut off at anytime, or to only operate when the ignition is on, and shut off when it is not.

From the switch there are the 4 wires, 2 of which as stated above are already prewired, and 2 that are not. Those 2 wires will run through the harness and should terminate at the firewall connector. Your relay will have 4 terminals, 30,87,86,85.

30 goes to the battery or fused power always hot. 87 is output and will go out to the foglights and also run back to the tan/org wire for the led indicator in the switch. 86 will go to the blu/blk wire at the fog light switch plug, and 85 to a switched power source, or hot wire. 30, and 85 should have inline fuses in the wires used.

85 can be wired into your headlight circuit, or wired independently to another source for power like ignition source. When the relay is wired up, pin 86 acts as the ground from the fog light switch when on to complete the circuit, and turn on the lights.

So your configuration would be like below.
