100 W bulbs (Hella 500's)
Alright so I want to replace my 55W bulbs in my Hella 500FF driving lights with 100W.
Here's some that I found: Amazon.com: Sylvania H3 100W BP Halogen Mini Bulb: Automotive Would these better or worse? Amazon.com: Hella Xenon Blue H3 Bulbs (High Wattage) 100W: Automotive If you have any other suggestions or opinions on what I posted let me know. I just want brighter lights without spending the money to get KC's or PIAA's just yet. |
i've wondered the same myself. not sure if its safe for the housing...
|
I never use the lights for extended periods of time so I don't think it will effect the housings much
|
if there behind the grill i wouldnt run 100's other wise not too bad
|
as much as i hate to, i'm going with the hella bulbs.. i had one of my 55 watts burn out in my 500s, and i picked up the run of the mill sylvania from advance auto, and the remaining hella was much brighter...
i have also read on another forum that Hella has said that you can swap to the 100w with no modifications |
So the Sylvania 100W bulbs and Hella 100W have noticeably different output?
|
i know the 55w sure did.. not incredibly noticeable when driving and their on, but from in front i could tell a difference.

I had the 100watt blues in my hellas, I thought there a waste. I could see more with the clear 55watt bulbs.
|
So the 100W clears would be better I'm assuming.
I read that the blue's took away from road illumination |

I wonder if any brand of bulb would be better. Like Hella's vs. Sylvania's
