Main Light Switch

Noticed that when I turned on my main light switch the three indicators above it do not light up. So I figure it's the bulb. Well replaced the bulb in the main light switch and still they don't light up. Any suggestions.

What "bulb" did you use? If you bought the bulb and holder from the site that's advertised on this site (popular search), the holder does not line up correctly (the bulbs wire "legs" do not make contact).

I bought 5, then carefully removed the bulbs from their base they came with, and placed the bulbs into the original socket. I had to do this for the main switch, the 4x4 switch, and the fog light switch.

If I had to do it over again, I would have gone with LED bulbs.

Actually I went to a junk yard and got two bulbs with holders out of another Ranger. All other lights are working normally.

Use an ohm meter and check those bulbs you got from the boneyard; chances are they are burned out as well. After running my truck for 6 months with no lights for the light, 4x4, and fog switches, I changed them. I notice the main light switch is on all the time (even with no lights on) and the light gets brighter when the switch is moved to the parking or headlight position. This tells me this bulb will burn out faster.

This is why if I had to do it all over again, I'd just replace with a green LED bulb.

99% chance the bulbs are dead... you can test them with a 12v battery or multimeter too.

99.999% of the ones I get to do my led mods to are dead & totally useless as working replacements.

I've looked everywhere for direct replacements but ford only sells the entire switch for about $85

I do however do led mods to the oem bulb holders where you can replace dead bulbs, change colors & have longer lasting light. If you'd be interested drop me a message.
