1984 ranger
1984 ranger
alright heres what I have .... its a 84 ranger with a newer engine 2.9v6... the truck died on me today ... the ignition coil was burning hot so I figured it was shorting out some how... replaced it and its still wont start ... the motor turns over but will not start... im stuck ... Im getting 12v to the coil and am getting fuel to the rail ... i can hear the fuel pump engaging ....... im just frustrated and don't know what to do ... the ignition coil is new the relay is new and the battery is new.... all fuses are good and im guessing im getting fire to the plugs.. please help .... this is my designated hunting truck and if i have to ill just pull all this bullshit motor and put a 302 carb with no computer in it but before i do that id like to know if there is an easy fix.... by the way the inertia switch has been bypassed
Was the computer upgraded with the newer engine? Sometimes when that add sensors on newer motors it changes the fuel maps which if not calibrated correctly can cause tons of issues. Mine turns the cats red hot when i unplug just the speed sensor as i found out when i swapped my trans.
